Changed my bikes oil today as well, getting ready for a 1 day 450mile + ride called Medano - The Hard Way which routes from Denver way down and through the Great Sand Dunes in southern Colorado.

Yup, try to do it every year but missed last years. It's a blast, there will be carnage, broken bikes, swimming bikes, bitching and moaning and by the time we roll back in around midnight were pretty beat, only a few make it through the whole loop. Starting 6am tomorrow morning, I'm fully stoked to go!!! Cant wait for the Medano Pass section. Around 8 or so deep water crossings and then you have to make it though the Great Sand Dunes.

Had an awesome ride last weekend - Medano - The Hard Way - which totaled 450ml in one day. This weekend Im doing the BrekTrek which starts in Woodland Park and goes like the crow flies to Breckenridge with lots of single track, two track and dirt roads. We should make it to Brekenridge (if there is not too much snow) by 1pm and then whip back. It's going to be a looong day.

Great Sand Dunes in CO - You have to visit if you are in CO.

Having fun with the rest of the gang - lotsa cackling

High Speed Group Drive-By - Crazy Paul leading out

Hayden Pass - it's a real Pita

How does your oil perform on a Timken Bearing Test when compared to other leading brands? I've been an Amsoil coolaid drinker for several years but I would not mind trying a different oil in my KLR.
BTW, Amsoil made a very noticealble improvement in my V-Twin cruiser performance. I now use it in all of my vehicles. Hopefully Royal can be similar. It would be nice to see some real life test results done by an independent laboratory.

The so called bearing and other lubrication tests that you find all over the internet are not scientific and does not meet regulated standards. Most of them are hyped up marketing that are designed to exploit competitor deficiencies and highlight only their benefits.

Royal Mfg's products are made to exceed regulated specifications and are developed in their own certified lab. Riverside Laboratories has a highly qualified and experienced team of chemists and engineers that develop and ensure the quality of lubricating oils and greases meet and exceed the customer requirements.

In addition to this research and development, Riverside Laboratories also offers testing and evaluation services to outside customers at competitive prices for new and used oils.

Riverside Laboratories has the capability to measure: Viscosity (ASTM D445/D7042), Color (ASTM D1500), Flash Point (ASTM D92), Cold Crank Simulation (ASTM D5293) and Metals by ICP (D5185). An FT-IR spectrometer complements Riverside Laboratories.

You are welcome to test it yourself if you have a Timken Bearing tester and let us know. Royal Mfg. rely on their own lab and scientists and provide oil and lubrication products to large multi-million $ industrial customers.

Enjoy the "Kool-Aid"

I'll be at the Rocky Mountain Adventure Riders Silverton CO Rendezvous at the end of the month. Hit me up if you are there. It is an awesome event with epic 12K feet passes on your doorstep. We'll be giving away some oil and goodies at the event.
