We are interested in a trip up to your neck of the woods, but I don't want to hi-jack your thread. So, pm sent.

Thanks again!

Hey Dave, You'll love the riding here in the Finger Lakes. We had an extended family stay a week at our vacation rental last year. I helped them plan a few of the day trips that they did on their Harleys. When they left they were planning on their next trip here.
Yep, Julie is my #1 farkle.

The following picture is NOT approved by #1Farkle.
I just bought it and a coffee mug with that image from Moonshinephoto.com.

Fantastic ride report!!! I had to catch up today after suffering a computer failure and getting the replacement hooked up...
I have to agree with you on the comfort factor. I found the upright riding position and the footpeg placement just right for me
and I'm also 5'10". On my trip I kind of had a letdown once I got as far east as Wisconsin. Looked just like back home in
Northern NY.... To me, nothing compared to riding out west. It's sensory overload to be riding down a beautiful road
on a 70 degree day and have snow peaked mountains off both shoulders. I have to put a new battery in the Ural, but maybe I could venture down your way sometime this summer and we could take a leisurely ride around your area. I just picked up a
Kawasaki Versys so been playing around with that the last week. A little more acceleration than the Patrol......

Thanks to you and Julie for one of the most enjoyable RR I have read in a long time.
Exactly what a good ride should be, unhurried and with the best company.
All the best from Oz.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed riding along. Thank you for your comments.
Gary, email me a few days before you might find yourself down here. There are a few places I'd recommend like the Glen Curtiss Museum which is about an hour south of here near Watkin's Glen. I know what you mean about the scenery looking like home around the midpoint of the ride. I didn't mind that at all. Sure beats what people tell me about the attractiveness of endless fields of corn further north. Besides. I kind of followed spring all the way home.

I've changed the oils in the bike but have quite a long 10,000KM scheduled maintenance list in the owner's manual. I need to order a bunch of tires too.

Hey Tom,

After all the worry about weather you had it perfect the whole trip, you are one lucky fella, you should buy a lottery ticket.
Great RR, thanks for sharing.

After 30 days your SPOT2 locations go into oblivion. I flailed around and got nowhere trying to copy the page before they started to disappear. Many thanks to our daughter's boyfriend Dave who captured them and emailed the map to me.
Here is a map of our trip. The first two locations are at the airports. Number three is after we landed in Seattle and I picked up the rig. The rest were the ride home.

I was at the Gap on the 28th, coming back from Tellico, would have loved to ask you a million questions, but I was heading back to Flatistan on the 30th.

We had that same issue throughout the trip. Everywhere we went we had people stop and say "We saw you guys yesterday while we were driving at .............."
I had to tell them all that it must have been another couple on a similar bike.

It's the thread in 'The perfect riding line and other myths' here on Advrider there is a nice Killboy pic of you lifting the wheel.

More of a chew your ear off. I think members would ask for my head if I got started
