I have planned a short introduction so we all know what we are doing,

That will be at 11:30.
We pull out of the parking lot at 12:00 NOON.
Anyone/Everyone is welcome.

The basic route is Buena - Somers Point - Northfield - Port Republic - New Gretna - past Batsto - Hammonton - Buena.
A 100 mile loop.

If anyone wants to join us you can meet us at the beginning or somewhere along the way, if you can find us.

We are stopping at Nick's Custom Cycles at 4:00 PM and then afterwards at Mr. Bill's at 5:00 PM.
There you can get some ice cream, a giant eclair, or dinner, and we will also have a short devotional.

Can't wait till tomorrow.
Looks like the weather is going to be terrific.
IM SO UPSET I MISSED THIS -_-... I live in Vineland,NJ. Next one please please please send me an invite i will be there !!

Sorry for taking so long to get back to all of you.

As a general note:
Sorry for posting this thread so late. I thought about it at the last minute.
The next ride is in June. Looking at June 9.
Come one, come all.

sallydog:
Thanks for wanting to join us, perhaps you can make the our next ride.

Yellow Iron:
Your Layton General Store Super Sundays have become legendary in our Tag-O-Rama world. Keep up the good work. And I am not sure we have as many interesting roads down here !

enormiss:
Sorry we missed you. We did eat at Mr. Bill's around 5:00. Perhaps you can join us for the next one.
Are you riding up with me for the Bruce Run, or are you catching the Slab Crowd ?

kjclark7:
So encouraging for me to know that someone else out there understands !

DirtRipper44:
Sorry about that. Hope you can join us for the next one. See below.

DougZ73:
You have to go check out Nick's. And he is such a nice guy too. He has been very accommodating every time I have been there.

Next ride is along the route of:
Buena - Head of the River - Port Norris - Greenwich - Centerton - Buena
I will put the details up once I get past the Bruce Run.
Once again, I am looking at June 9th for the next ride.
The following weekend is Father's Day weekend and our church has it's annual Mens Overnight, this time at our new church building. The following Saturday seems to booked as well.
June 9th is also the day of the Thunder in the Park in Vineland which people can go to after our ride.

Our Second trip.

Saturday, June 9, 2012

Starting at the WAWA in Buena at the intersection of Routes 40 & 54.

I have a lunch planned this time but I do not have a place picked out yet.
That is why this ride is starting earlier.

Meet at 8:30 AM, Leave the parking lot at 9:00.

From Buena we head down CR 557 to Cape May Avenue (aka CR 666 !) to
*Head of the River Church in Tuckahoe.
I am not planning on stopping here unless someone wants to.
This church was dedicated in 1792 and is one of the oldest Methodist churches in South Jersey. There is still no running water in the church, but an outhouse was built in 1914. I have no idea what they did before that ! It was in continuous use for 130 years and yearly meetings were held until 1976.

Cross Route 49 here onto Bellplain Road (CR 605, which turns into 550).
This is a concern about crossing 49. I hope there is not too much shore traffic.
Catch CR 347 N to the end, cross 47 onto CR 670 and CR 649 to Port Norris.
* I had wanted to see the Delaware Bay oyster schooner A. J. Meerwald but it is scheduled to be in Virginia and Delaware that weekend. The Meerwald is New Jersey's official Tall Ship. Launched in 1928 and used continuously into the late 1970's.
We will just ride along a short section of the Maurice River at Shell Pile and Bivalve. Just hold your nose !

Then a nice ride up CR 553 and CR 609 into Bridgeton. You have to go through there to get down to Greenwich on CR 607.
*Some great history in Greenwich. Founded in 1675 by a John Fenwick. There we will see the Tea Burners Monument. This was New Jersey's version of the Boston Tea Party, but instead of dumping the tea in the river, they dressed like indians and burned it ! That occurred December 22, 1774.

Then on down the road to Hancock's Harbor.
*Ever heard of a Futuro House? Looks like a flying saucer spaceship. This one is in pretty bad shape, but interesting none the less. Originally designed as a house ! ! ! This one spent time at Morey's Pier in Wildwood as part of their Planet of the Apes ride. There is a nice whale mural on one of the sheds and lots of old maritime relics around.

Also here is the Bait Box Restaurant. All I can find is that they have great crab cakes ! I could not find a menu online or any pricing. I need to check that out. There is also a Dutch Neck Village that I wanted to check out but the only restaurant they show is Sgt. Smoke's BBQ. There is also the Green Olive Restaurant on Route 49 in Bridgeton to check out.

If anyone knows about these place please let me know so I can narrow this down quickly.

From Greenwich we will just take roads back through Shiloh, Centerton and cut back over to Route 40 and head back to Buena.

Sounds like fun to me !
I will be setting out flyers in church tomorrow.

Mind if a local tags along?
Last year the Bait Box had a menu posted on their site... maybe they have not set their menu because the just opened for the season on May 5th?
There is not much else out there for dining options... I will add that we haven't been there in years but when we were there it was good.
Never been to The Green Olive... used to be a Richmans Ice Cream.

Might I also suggest as alternates...
Just above the 553/609 split as you leave Fairton...
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Toad-F...l/170266971619

Or if you want something simpler like a Hot Dog Stand with picnic tables...
http://www.insiderpages.com/b/371802...rd-stand-salem
Lynn and I were here today for a foot long (I had a craving) They also make a "Belly Buster" a huge hamburger (they have the buns made special) that covers a 9" paper plate!

I don't want to run you off your course but we could hit a few other past TOR spots in the area if time allows.

Thank you SnoDrt.

No problem at all if you come.
We would love to have you join us, and bring your wife too.
A lot of us were two up last time.

I like your suggestions for lunch.
I had thought about Hudocks but they are too far off course for this ride, but I can probably use them on the next one in August. I did not know they had all of those other foods there. Sounds good.

I was trying to stay down in Greenwich because that is where we will be around noon. I was going to take a run down there today to see about a menu and some prices. That would be the most convenient for us.
If that does not work out I will probably trek up to the Green Olive Restaurant. They seem to have a decent menu and good prices. One of the ladies from our church recommended them.

Not sure I want to eat at a place named Toad Fish !
We will be passing that on the way though, but too early for lunch.
I had thought about changing my route a little, but I have everything pretty much spelled out so I will work with what I have. I had been busy with the Bruce Run up to the last minute and I have been busy with work since then. I just got done posting the ride report for that on Friday !

Looking forward to seeing you again.
And I know we won't get lost if you are with us.

Here is another place if you are in the area, Lynn and I are headed down for breakfast in a few minutes...

Lynn has her own street bike now... we went out yesterday and she did excellent. Putting in a full day in the saddle today to see how she does.

Maybe we will see you out there today!

Did you ever make it out to the Bait Box Steve? Lynn and I went in the opposite direction (NE) after breakfast.

Sorry, I meant to post something earlier, but I get so bogged down with other stuff I forgot.

No, we never got out there.
As we were getting our gear on to leave church it started raining so we headed for home.
I had a nice ride planned too !

We went home and had lunch and got the truck and headed for Burlington.

It would be great to see your wife ride with us too.
That Waterfront Cafe looks nice too, but still too far from Greenwich.

Because I did not get out there Sunday I need to call the Bait Box Restaurant.
So much to do, and so little time it seems.
It will all work out in the end.

I have decided upon a lunch stop.

The Bait Box Restaurant.

Don't worry, they have more than just worms and minnows !

I took a picture of their Lunch Menu.

And my lunch, Fish and Chips.

The fish was a good portion.
It is mostly covered up by the fries.

Nice atmosphere.

When we stop here you can have lunch in the restaurant, or bring your own and eat outside and when you are done you can look at all of the neat stuff around inside and out.

Looks good Steve!
We will be there for sure... We will ride sweep if that's OK with you, just in case anyone falls off the back of the pack. I will also have the Sag Wagon (trailer) at the ready should anyone need a tow. I would need to run back home to get it but by my calculation we will never be more than 20 miles from home.

Everything circles my house... at least according to my wife.
She thinks the military transport planes that travel between Mcguire/Dix and Dover use our house for navigation because they always bank when in the area. I had to explain that the military probably uses a navigation system a bit more advanced than that.

It does look rather unique from the air...
