Tires Tires Tires

My first set of tires are almost gone. Searching dual sport tires and reading reviews is tiring. I need some feedback from people that I know have ridden miles on these tires. I need mileage the most. I'm not tearing up the road. I am currently commuting 700 miles a week. 85/15 - 80/20. Mileage vs grip vs traction. I need insight, please.

1. Michelen Anakee2 (IMO best tread design for a ~80/20 tire)

2. Metzler Tourance (may get slightly better mileage)

3. Heidenau Scout (read reviews first - some humming and tracking issues???)

4. If you want off road - go Continental TKC80

I have been watching the boards for the reviews on the road 3's. I commute on mine so I'm looking for a good road tire. The initial reviews are good I'm waiting to hear about longevity.

I'm running tourances now. But the price gap isn't much.

I go with Metzlers, the best bang for the buck. I always get more miles out of them than my buddies running other brands... Also - I run 40/42 psi, seems to help strech the life of the tire.

Check out the shinko Ravens, they have deep tread, and last very well. Grip well, just beware the first 100 miles they use mold release from hell

I just finished off a PR3 on the rear, got about 3700 miles out of it compared to 4500 on a Tourance. The PR3 feels more confident in the curves for sure. Also rode the PR3 for 50+ miles of dirt/gravel in Death Valley, I was expecting that to tear up the softer sides a bit, but it handled it just fine, no visible damage and no issues.

I'm not sure what I'll go with now... might try the Heidi K76.

I'm closing in on 6k miles on my Tourance rear. Still has plenty of life left. Front looks like it will last about 30-40% longer than the rear.

Might switch to Mich Pilot Road 3s though when these go. Don't really go off-road much and the wet weather performance and handling is probably better on the Pilots... and I'm always getting caught in mega-downpours it seems.

Bridgestone tires SUCK. I tried the BW rear and at 3200 miles i was almost at cords.

1. Metz. Tourance
2. Conti Trail Attack.
I do NOT recommend the Anakee rear...although the front is fine. They do not stick at full lean angles.

I'm only 500 miles into my new Pirelli Scorpion Trails, so I can't say anything about mileage yet, but they are dual compound.

The handling on pavement is great, quick warm-up, and a big improvement over the stock Dunlops. They are rated 90/10, but off road traction is impressive for a tire that looks street only. Mud is a no go.
