/6 low bar issue
So I want to run low bars on my /6 project. I bought some Fehling bars, and I like the way they fit me:
![]() And damn, do I look good. BUT there's an issue with how they fit the controls. If I shove the right perch any further onto the bar, the throttle binds. Here's how far I can get them on: ![]() More than 1/4" short. So I'm guessing I need Magura bars, and I'm wondering which of these is the way to go: A20 or B20? Existing bar is 25.5" wide. Are /5 or /2 controls that much shorter?

1/4 inch short? big deal, put em on and run them. I don't see where that would be an issue.

Magura's have been coming from BMW like that for 15 years or so. I guess the bean counter went too far? The bars are narrow enough when you can put the grips on all the way. Too narrow IMO. I think it sucks. You can't slide your grip all the way on on the other side and it leaves your throttle tube out there all by itself to get mangled.

Maybe you need to run the wider R100CS bars.

My point was that BMW charges way too much money for bars that are cut too short to use properly. They weren't always like that.
Are CS bars any different? Still available? Max BMW lists the R90S bar for the CS. At any rate, the couple of different style euro bars I have got from BMW many times over through the years were all cut too short to put the grips all the way on and that was back when they only cost a little over $100. |

How about the B20, the 27" "sidecar" bar? Is the extra length all in the grip portion?

Yes, the side car bars are wider so you can put the grips on all the way. You can even narrow them if you want. I like K1 bars. They are about as wide as the sidecar bars but are swept back and down more I believe. They only come in black though. |
