Noah,
Great RR ...

Don't know your route south out of Yukon is, but if you are coming down through Kamloops from Prince George, you have a place to stay here....

My guess is you will come down through Alberta....watch out for bears and oil drillers

Brad (Uller) is certainly a cool and knowledgeable guy....he did the ECU tuning for me and the usual tech-talk was valuable....I am trying to pry him out of Marysville for some of that Lillooet/Big Bar riding

Travel well...

Most good RR's are about the same for me. Great story, nice guy, good photos. But it makes it that much more sweeter when the rider is riding your same bike right?

I stayed at Brads house when I was in Washington. He's a good guy. I will be coming down through Banff into Montana in a few weeks.

I am in Anchorage now and I will be posting pics (tomorrow) from my ride to Prudoe Bay. It was still very much winter and cold. Thanks for the concern!

Dalton Hwy, Denali, Anchorage

It has been a while since I posted some pictures. Here I go.

On the 17th I left Whitehorse and rode toward AK. I ended up camping near Tok at Moon Lake. Some ladies from Switzerland shared their campsite with me so I wouldn't have to pay.

Lunch in Haines Junction.

Kluane Lake

Destruction Bay. WATCH OUT FOR THE POLICE!

Outrunning the Rain

Moon Lake

The shared campsite.

In Delta Jct. I got my AK fishing licence and stocked up on flies. I tried to find a few different places on the way to Fairbanks but everything looked blown out and high/fast. I stayed the next few days in Fairbanks at my friends house from college.

Sweet dog and Ensfield

I didn't get to meet the owner. But this was a sweet old thing.

We went out to Chena Hotsprings on Sunday and I caught my first Artic Greyling.

Just south of the Yukon river.

Sunday night I made it north to the Yukon river. There is a good campsite just up the hill on the west side of the road, south side of the river. From there it was a long day ride to Deadhorse.

Monday 5/21 Yukon to Deadhorse
The weather was great. The roads were decent. I took my time on the way north in order to get a feel for the road, truckers etc. The dirt sections were pretty good. Only a few nasty rocky sections but they still were 50mph plus. The parts I had to really watch out for were the dusty sections and the shitty paved sections. They would fill in the road with gravel where it sunk. Of course you can't blade a paved road so you hit washboard that is 8+inches deep in loose gravel on the paved. On the strait it wasn't a problem.. stand up.. pin it to win it. I slowed down in the corners. A lot. The north slope got pretty boaring. But the Brooks Range was amazing. It was sunny and I was loving life. 35 miles from Deadhorse I hit a wall of fog/freezing crap that iced me over. The plan was to camp somewhere but I was so frozen when I got there I paid the $125 for a warm place to sleep. The Prudoe Bay Hotel has meals included so it wasn't actually to bad of a deal.

Fast Gravel

More fast gravel.

For a size comparison: The large rock center left was 8" long.

Getting into the Brooks Range.

A large wetslide. That little piece of equipment is a front end loader.

Didn't get to see any Muskox. but I saw lots of these guys.

Crappy Icy fog crap.

They make you wear these in side.

Tuesday 5/22. Dead horse to Yukon River.
Leaving deadhorse was the same fog/snowy crap. Below 0 C. after 35 miles of that I was ready for some sun. My heated liner stopped working so I was doubled up on socks and long underwear under my fleece. The sun was welcomed. By the time I got to Coldfoot, the temp had risen to nearly 22 degrees. (thats a 40 degree swing for you F people ) I had a great burger in cold foot and then kept heading south. I caught a decent artic greyling in the Jim river. Now I can say I've caught fish north of the artic circle.
I camped in the same place at the Yukon river.

He doesn't like the cold either.

Sunshine!

She turned 10k miles just north of the brooks range.

Huge fishy!

At what point does it have a name? When someone calls it "no name creek"? When the put a sign up proclaiming it No-name creek?

Wednesday 5/23 Yukon River to Fairbanks to Denali.
I made it into Fairbanks around noon. We (passenger to Anchorage) got on the road by 3 and found a place to camp on the Denali Hwy next a small float plane landing. The "sunset" was amazing with views of Denali in the back ground.

Hard to turn down a request for a ride.

Denali!

Thursday 5/24 Denali to Anchorage.
We stopped in Talkeetna for some lunch/Breakfast/coffee and a brew before heading south. It rained on us the whole way into fairbanks. Another college friend and I went to the Moose's Tooth for beer and pizza that night. It was AMAZING. Quite a wait but well worth it.

Spot the Alaskan girl.

Friday 5/25
Service on the bike. Valve clearance has not moved since Washington. .08mm on 3 and .09mm on the 4th. A few things are starting to show fatigue. The kick stand bracket is bent so my bike leans very far over on level ground. I tried to straighten it. No luck. its a $24 part from KTM so I will be replacing that in MN. The touratech sharks fin is now ziptied because it broke and I don't want to loose it. Scotts will be put on in MN or I will machine one. I lost a bolt in the panier bracket between Whitehorse and Tok. I now have 10mm KTM bolts in there so I can put a socket on them instead of an allen. My tires now have 8k miles on them and they actually look pretty decent for how the ride so far. Mojave to Anchorage on 1 set of MEFOs. I will definitively use the rear MEFO Explorer again with a more aggressive front like a TKC 80 or something.

Missing Bolt

Cracked sharks fin

I plan on spending the next few days around Anchorage/Homer/Seward area then out to Valdez for a day. I have to be in Bozeman MT by the 15th of June so I will start fly fishing my way across AK and the Yukon. I plan on taking the "top of the world HWY" for a change in scenery.
