Only in an airplane. I suppose if I had done it in a boat.. I would have to do the "wog to shellback" tradition. I guess I'll have a beer to celebrate tonight.

The thing that you have to remember about the ADV bike market is that most ADV bikes are not purchased by ADV riders. Most are like SUV's in the US, bought by folks who want to look the part when they go to Starbucks. These folks think bigger is better and they are the buyers BMW and KTM are going for.

We are just a minority that does not have enough financial pull to make it worthwhile for the bigger companies to build bikes like we want. Of course, that does leave a gap for interesting creations like the CCM to fill.

Of course no stereotyping here. Some people buy whatever they have for a reason other than Starbucks. On second thought....I like Starbucks.

We? Who's in that group? I like 'em all. Some I can afford, some I can't. Would like to try the CCM too.

Northern Hemisphere clockwise. Southern Hemisphere should be counter clockwise.... Equator straight down?

Keep it going Noah. Been on your report from the beginning. Too funny the KLR comments. I had an 04. Lets just say not many bikes get abused and used the way that poor KLR was and still run. But its like riding a couch with no legs or power. Got me a 13 690R and an 07 990 adventure now.
My body appreciates suspension and power. Be safe Mate.

So if someone makes one of the life choices that just doesn't make sense to me, I guess I'll let them. People should consider alternatives if they are doing an RTW though. That's all i'm trying to say. Any bike is better then nothing.. well almost any bike.

On a side note, I crossed the equator today. Didn't realize it till I was about 30 km south. No sign or anything. Oh well. It doesn't feel to much different on the bottom of the world :)
I've never been on a KLR... so I'll leave them be, but I feel a bit the same way about the bigger adventure bikes.... especially the wider ones. Riding in Java and then Sumatra was the start of that for me. Being on a narrow bike means you don't have to sit in the diesel smoke... you can overtake between trucks, or go up the dirt strip. Then there's the mud tracks... and its been the mud tracks that have taken me to the most enjoyable places. That's what led me to downsize from the Super Enduro to the 525 (but I kept the Super Enduro for back home).

.... now, as for the Equator, I missed it too. I recalled seeing a white line on the road later on. Would have stopped it I'd realised it... but, such is life.

Last I heard it doesn't make any difference which side of the equator you're on for the direction the water goes down the drain. Just sayin'

Well you heard wrong.

It rotates in the opposite direction on each side of the equator.

lol. i think it's a hoax used by the locals to con tourists into paying to see it happen...

i think the shape of the sink or whatever has more of an effect than the hemisphere.
