Noah I think you picked the perfect bike for a RTW trip. Good luck, I'm jealous.

How about that? Im 28 and im going to school for electrical engineering (did the navy as an aircraft electrician out of HS), and you have just done (in your first leg) the trip im planning to do next summer! Small world..

I have to say I was a bit worried that you chose a KTM considering all the things ive heard about them, but the bike seems to be doing fantastic! Even a DR or KLR will blow fork seals if you push them super hard, so the guy who commented about the KTM being too fussy I think is off base. Main thing is maintenance and keeping an eye on the bike. KTM seems to have made very awesome strides in terms of reliability while still maintaining the great performance!

The only thing I might suggest (and I may have missed where you mentioned this) is to carry around a few bottles of octane booster once you start heading into remote areas. Sometimes gas can be a grab what you can situation and it isnt always premium

Read the whole thread tonight and I look forward to more!

Good luck with the EE degree. Let me know if you want some contacts in the wind industry!

The bike looks very different Noah with the boxes gone and looks way more compact and lighter. I see you have the Giant Loop bag and you got a new helmet. Did you consider getting any crash bar protection after your last spill? Have a safe trip.

Ill need that good luck, a schedule, a lot of studying, and a prayer

Wind power actually seems like a perfect EE job to get to travel with. Most of the micro stuff traps you in one place..

Its a good day for a guinness!

I landed. The flight was great with the 85 degrees, crying babies wedged in between 2 huge old ladies who hated each other. Time to go find my bike. A hostel and a Guinness.

Welcome to Europe. Hope you like it here but I think you may find it a little more crowded than you're used to!

Bike stolen.

Well. This is quite awesome. (sarcasm) I received the motorcycle just as planned at the shipping agent. I went to a hostel in Dublin but I had to park the bike a few blocks away. I put a padlock through the front disk but it was obviously not enough.

I took a couple hour nap and then walked back to the motorcycle and I fount the lock. I have all my bags and gear but the KTM is gone. I did a police report but I don't expect much unless they have footage of it. Broad daylight on a busy street. I'll try to do some posts around the Internet but i'm not sure what else to do.

This part of the trip is off to a good start.

WOW I wish I had a bike to lend you (broke my hip 3 months ago and not riding much). Is it insured abroad for theft?
