So we are tooling along and I see something coming up ahead... what could it be? Is it a mirage?!?!?!

NO! It's trees and a curve in the road!!!

Guess it was just a teaser!

I see another one! It's a curve in the road! Let's go!!!

On the road again...

We decide to take a slight detour on the way into the campground at Long Pool Rec area to get some ice and a cooler...

We debated if this cheap styrofoam cooler would hold up to a 80MPH interstate run...

It did!!!

Oh, and while were winding around the back roads and taking the scenic route up, DirtRoadsMS headed out at noon and slabbed it the whole way and barely beat us to the campground!

Setting up Camp Snore-a-way!

Long Pool

Long Pool is a very nice, remote, and quiet campground. No cell signal. But a nice swimming area!

Camp Snore-a-Way loaded up and ready for day 2!!

DQ leads us down a great downhill section and we drop out in a cutover with some sand and stuff at the bottom and then this:

Didn't real fun to cross, and no one was sure if the road went through.

DQ thought he came through here a few years ago on the DRZ but it was winter and looked different. The main road we wanted was gated. And Trailblazer doesn't look to excited to try it with possibility of having to backtrack and do it again!

But if you know DQ, you know he had to try it!

He went across fine. Even made it look easy, but took a slightly different line on the return...

But there was one volleyball sized rock, right in front of his front tire...

But when in doubt, gas it!!!!

Supah and I waded out to help. I rolled a couple of rocks out of the path and got my camera all wet somehow!

We decide to turn back up the hill and try another route...

And today we are riding with full campsite and luggage loaded since we are headed for a different campground to meet up with the Ark boys...

found some dusty roads...

There are some interesting dwellings on some of the roads and these people really live in the middle of NOWHERE!!!

Many of these roads will run in a straight line and then suddenly make a 90 degree turn to cross the creek in a little low water bridge or concrete slab... As i approached one such corner, I saw where someone overshot and slid into the turn... As I get slowed and stopped, I see this:

But he rode it out and made it look like he planned to do it for a photo op!

We missed a turn on the route and ended up in the horse farm down in a valley in the middle of no where...

"Did you see the bison?" This fellow is sitting by the fence just a few yards from a hard left 90 degree turn... So as you turn to see what's in the field, you might let the turn surprise you!!

Deer, AR

Some beautiful scenery in here...

We are moving along briskly and come to a Y in the gravel road. We are coming down the left fork and want to turn up the right fork. DQ, TB, and DRMS, all make the turn, but a car appears up the bottom of the Y. Supah and I think he will let us join our friends, but he charges on out and cuts between us. Within a minute or two, Supah cuts around him and passes and runs on. Driver slows down and appears to have been scared by the pass. The road has random rocks jutting up and the driver stops and weaves ditch to ditch to avoid these rocks. We hit a max of 11 MPH. I can't tell if he even knows I'm behind him. I follow him for a few miles and he stops at each rock, sharp bend, etc. I am getting more and more frustrated...

Finally i have had enough and I see a straight line on my GPS and I get ready. Drop to 2nd gear and as we crawl around a bend I see a long straight uphill road ahead. I move left and make my move. Nail the throttle and didn't see the little rise at the base of the hill. My front ends lifts as I pass him at the rise. As he sees me appear beside him, he dives for the right ditch and I just stay in it and fly past. Hope I didn't pepper his hood with gravel...

The guys are waiting for me at the next water crossing...

Another "shack" photo

according to the way points on my GPS from the ARK boys, that ledge you see is known as Lover's Leap

The road goes to the base and takes a left and goes right up past it.

Which way do we go?

We finally roll into Withrow Springs and I get Camp Snore-a-way setup again!

Well, I have a little problem...

Got up for Saturday's ride and couldn't find the extra battery for my camera and forgot to charge the one I used for previous 2 days... so I don't have pics from Saturday's ride with the AR guys. I do have some GOPRO video that I am up loading to YT now, but my upload speed is awful at home... shows I still have 300+ minutes remaining.

Guess I can skip ahead to our trip home on Sunday since I have not finished editing all the video from Saturday, yet...

I wake up early Sunday morning and wait to see sun on the top of my tent before crawling out. As I start to see some light, I hear a Tiger startup and roll out. On Saturday morning, DQ got up early and rode to town for breakfast and returned with a biscuit for the rest of us... Maybe DirtRoadsMS was doing the same? I finally get up and head to the shower house and come back and start packing up some of my gear. I get it mostly together and walk over to talk to DQ. He said DRMS headed back home early on the slab so we were back down to 4. Soon Supah is up and stirring... and soon Camp Snore-a-way is all packed up...

Trailblazer packing up:

Supah and I ready to roll:

And off we roll

Soon DQ and Trailblazer are leading us off into twisty pavement land...

Ride it, Supah!

Lots of these signs:

From time to time, me or Supah and me would get caught behind some lap traffic...

I would go awhile and not see the leaders, then Supah and I would catch back up

I was never really sure where we were (not as familiar with geography of Arkansas) but remember seeing 7, 23, "Welcome to the Pig Trail" and other places I had heard of... Soon we rolled up and saw the leaders waiting for us at a store. Where I saw this rig parked:

And we were off again:

Supah and I took turns playing sweeper
