But the realities of life in BC is that they spray chloride solutions on the gravel roads in the summer to keep the dust down. Worse now they switched from Sodium Chloride to another type, apparently cheaper and better for the environment but even more corrosive. Easy to tell just looking at my newer car from last winter, sure took a kicking on corrosion.

Shit is insidious and turns to cement in them nooks & crannies. Not saying wash your bike but at least hose it off unless you want them spoke nipples to look ugly fast.

I can almost bet the sprayer tank truck will be up the road here this week, usually follows the grader by a week. Had to wait 2 days last year until the stuff dried out just to go for my first ride of the year. Beat them this year.....!

Beads not for breaking, heading to the tire shop.

Thanks

Will give a report on the Heidenau K76's.

I gotcha hwg. The longer it is on the more it stains and corrodes and hides potential issues.

I can't accept any responsibility for the shine on my bike.
The previous owners took great care of her.
Will post "dirty" photos for hardwaregrrl if required ;-)

i got lazy breaking the bead.
I have a very large milton vice on my workbench. I cover the jaws with a rag or cardboard, put the whole damn wheel/tire combo down into it so that the jaws can close and juuuuuuuuust miss the rim.

Then i close it all the way, grab the rim, and wiggle it around until it kinda unseats itself.

They are supposed to be a 80/20, good enough for some of our logging roads I hope. I have to ween the bike and myself for future diet of sand and dirt. Baby steps ;)

I just replaced both tires.

Tires make you tired.

No snags ... just carefully done.

Are you sure it was Brazil and not Argentina and how many incidents are we talking about here?
