Waiting for it to warm up could be a symtom of having too heavy a gear oil in the box. And that screech noise could be a worn clutch rod end...
before you take it apart you could make sure you have the right oil in it. And you could pull the clutch pushrod out and check to see if the rod is worn funny at the end. Just a guess off the top of my head.... Matt

I did get the issue corrected. It was the original clutch (40 years old). I replaced the entire clutch and the problem is no more.
