You didn't happen to make a pattern for your plastic heat shield, did you

AMCN Rated 1190 R as best Off Road

The latest AMCN rated the 1190 R as the best off road. They tested 8 variants including the 1190 A , Bmw GS air cooled , Honda , Suzuki and I forgot the others. The WC GS got best all round, so this pretty much confirms my beliefs that if you want more off road bias then it is the KTM and more Road the GS. My selection was the GS for the later reason.

the back seat it's great too, my wife is anthusiastic.....
the plastic shield is home made... it's a stupid 1 mm sheet of plastic shaped and put in to place, a 3 investment. (the best one done ont the bike)

Where did you hook up the Garmin wiring? Did you run it back to the fuse box or find a connection upfront?

I tested both bikes. My selection was the Katty for the first and the later reason.

The GS is better for the kind of driving I practice in my car. For the rest, I feel better on the KTM.

Those missing blinking codes !!

for interest I asked my dealer to get an answer to why the instruments did not flash out the 15 second code as per the manual line '' 6.7 '' adventure 1190R. after 4 weeks of kick arse all I got eventually is a copy of what seems to have been rewritten, now under ''6.5.4 '' which is essentially the same splab but with the line about the one minute and 15 second flashes now missing. Of course no mention that the tail lamp gives a single very brief flash after I minute...I guess KTm Australia might one day figure that out, like delivery on heated grips [ im waiting 3 weeks to be told this ! ] is now December.....yes that is 2013 with service like that I might have expected 2014....wont make much difference as its summer then and they can stick em for a while. Nice bike though.

7500 km 1190T feedback

7500 km done and here is my thoughts so far.

Did three weeks in the alps. Met about 1000 or so GS, two 1190T and one 1190R. The other 1190 riders looked as surprised as me when we passed each other :). My friend on a GS WC was really dissapointed that seemingly every other midlife crisis dude were on the same bike as him... big plus for me.
No disrespect though, the GS WC is high quality and can be ridden fast/hard as well.

Summary of experience:
* luggage
- no experience since newer delivered. I have cancelled the order though since even the dealer hates them due to poor quality and performance.
* oil consumption since 1000 km service
- barely noticeable but colour is now so dark I am tempted to change it even before the next service
* cooling water "consumption"
- had to refill 1.5 dl. Not sure where it went though, which is discomforting. Hope someone can explain it by evaporation or something rather than cylinder head gasket problems....
* fuel consumption
- between 5.2 l/100km and 5.7 l/100km depending on type of riding
* blinkers have condensation water in them which is permanent. Will claim warranty replacement.
* stock seat is to hard or something. Used airhawk pillow on long stretches. Airhawk also helps on the unbearable heat from the seat at slow pace.
* pillion comfort
- no complains apart from the seat hardness. She had no airhawk, so we swapped when needed. Have no clue about what other people were on about feet interfering?
* handling etc
- very nice
* motor
- gets better and better it seems, still extremely fun!
* tires
- very good and will last forever it seems
* wind protection
- still not happy with the turbulence even with touring sceen, but it is bearable
- I wish it could be adjusted while riding.
* sidestand
- still a stupid design, but no incidents since I was aware and made precautions each time used

Overall I am really satisfied. There are lots of small irritating stuff, but that is what can be called character I guess. Drivetrain and handling is the important stuff. If someone from KTM is following this thread I hope a lot of the minors will be fixed for next version.

Regards
Audun

Hi guys,*Last friday night my 1190adv (not-R) flashed few times the "low oil level".*

I refilled almost a liter of oil (4T, 10-50W) and I didn't see any leak so I think may be the bike burns the oil.*

At this time the bike is in observation at the dealer.*

Has somebody had the same issue?*

note: the bike has around 6.500km (with the first maintenance made). The driving was rain mode...and I was driving normally*
