Never apologize for posting a picture of a rally bike or two. Especially those destined for Dakar.

This weeks UK MCN has a review of the 1190 with MCS (as well as the 1290 Super Duke ) They reckon you would be daft not to have it, really jolly good

It quotes Thomas Kuttruf, KTM PR Manager, as saying "We have a community of 7000 1190 Adventure owners who won't be left out of the new technology. Starting this December, every Adventure and Adventure R with traction control can get an MSC update to exactly the same specification as the 2014 bikes. There is no hardware; its all done through an update."

MCN says the process will take around 15 minutes and will cost 336.

So anyone with fears that more electronics are a bad thing? Well, too late, you have all the techno gubbins already

What a joke. They should rather fix the real problems rather than trying to steal more money from us first version test pilots. They will newer have my lasting relationship if they keep this up!

According to Visordown report it is just a software upgrade. Should be free in IMO.

336 for a 15 min software upgrade. Expensive labour charge.

BTW...Where in Chilli is this. Sounds like a pretty good shop. Do you have any contact details?
Gonna do S.Am. pretty soon but my bike needs more prepping. Was thinking of doing it in Cal. but if it can be done in chilly might as well ship my bike there...

Did three weeks in the alps. Met about 1000 or so GS, two 1190T and one 1190R. The other 1190 riders looked as surprised as me when we passed each other :). My friend on a GS WC was really dissapointed that seemingly every other midlife crisis dude were on the same bike as him... big plus for me.
No disrespect though, the GS WC is high quality and can be ridden fast/hard as well.

Summary of experience:
* luggage
- no experience since newer delivered. I have cancelled the order though since even the dealer hates them due to poor quality and performance.
* oil consumption since 1000 km service
- barely noticeable but colour is now so dark I am tempted to change it even before the next service

My dealer said to do next service at 7500, then normal as per manual
* cooling water "consumption"
- had to refill 1.5 dl. Not sure where it went though, which is discomforting. Hope someone can explain it by evaporation or something rather than cylinder head gasket problems....

Check the left upper hoseclamp at the radiator. At some stage had coolant spewing out on my left boot and leg. Tightened the hose clamp at the radiator and sorted so far. Dealer also asked me to come in since they had to check the hose for warranty reasons [/COLOR]

* fuel consumption
- between 5.2 l/100km and 5.7 l/100km depending on type of riding
* blinkers have condensation water in them which is permanent. Will claim warranty replacement.
* stock seat is to hard or something. Used airhawk pillow on long stretches. Airhawk also helps on the unbearable heat from the seat at slow pace.
* pillion comfort
- no complains apart from the seat hardness. She had no airhawk, so we swapped when needed. Have no clue about what other people were on about feet interfering?
* handling etc
- very nice
* motor
- gets better and better it seems, still extremely fun!
* tires
- very good and will last forever it seems
* wind protection
- still not happy with the turbulence even with touring sceen, but it is bearable
- I wish it could be adjusted while riding.
* sidestand
- still a stupid design, but no incidents since I was aware and made precautions each time used

Overall I am really satisfied. There are lots of small irritating stuff, but that is what can be called character I guess. Drivetrain and handling is the important stuff. If someone from KTM is following this thread I hope a lot of the minors will be fixed for next version.

Regards
Audun

Hope this helps.

Thightening ALL hose clamps helped. No coolant consumption last 2000 km.
11500 km and still have not filled a drop of oil. Tires are holding up as well.

Right behind the last crossbar, at the two (unused) bolt holes.
