Ya, I added a laminar lip mod to my current bike so I could be more comfortable not more fashionable. :p

Fantastic outcome for my 1190 problem

I posted a few times back in Jan/Feb about my oil burning concerns with my 1190A. Blew smoke from day 1, was properly run in, yet after 5 weeks and 3000k, seemed to be getting worse - 700ml/900k. My dealer (Boltons at Kyneton, Victoria, Australia) were very responsive when things did not improve with more miles, loaning me their demo 1190 while they checked mine out. Turns out my engine is not right somewhere deep inside and needs to be pulled down. No mucking about, a diagnosis fully supported by KTM. Given that the bike was only a month old they initially felt that a new engine should go in, but none were available at the time in Oz, so they have decided to give me a new bike. To say the least, I am mightily impressed with Boltons, KTM Oz and KTM Austria. This was my first KTM after a lifetime on Jap bikes - a brilliant bike to ride as you guys know, but now I can also say very well backed up. I travelled 100k from Melbourne to buy the bike from Boltons after hearing positive things about them. All true. Can't say enough about their followup service and support. And KTM have really won me over for more bikes in the future.

Well, it's a wonderful thing that KTM gave you a new bike for the one that didn't work right out of the showroom, but I'm a little nervous that they let a bike like that get off the production line. Built on Friday?

I'm still mad at KTM for releasing the 950 SE with a fuel pump that is less well engineered then the ones on an old Model T Ford. With exposed points that corroded. Never had to replace a fuel pump on any other new vehicle I've owned over 40 years. And they still haven't found a better fuel pump to replace on warrantee/recall. Shame. Same thing can be said for the water pump.

I love my Orange, but can't believe they let someone drive off with a smoke right out of the dealer….

Really glad you got a new bike, and don't have to mess with the old one getting it up to speed so to speak. Good on KTM.

I like the original screen in the lowest position.
When it gets cold and im doing longer colder rides i just set it up to the highest.
problem solved for me at least...
Yeah I don't drop my screen either, love the look. It winter if I get cold I just use the heat from the engine on my right side

@Paulev@

Nice pics, thanks for sharing them. Like you, I have the Powerparts Ergo seats - a great improvement in comfort for touring.

I see a GoPro video cam mount on the right hand side of your 'bike. Do you have any video footage you can share with us?

Let me know if you'd be interested in meeting up in the UK in mid August? My son Paul and I are planning to do the Cadwell Park track day on Wed 13th August, in case you are interested to join us with another 1190 Adv 'R. We're probably going to be riding the Snake Pass and then Matlock on Tues 12th.

Hi Rob, funnily enough I'm half planning a trip to Corfu in August to see my sister, she's been over there 25 years. We'll probably pass each other at some point en route.

Got some go-pro footage I did in the Isle of Man but it needs editing to make it interesting. I have little patience with that sort of stuff so I'll have to persuade my son to do it at some point.

Mine is definitely for function.
No buffeting from wind, no low pitched droning and the slip stream just touches the top of the helmet. This with the screen in the down position.
Will probably get a touring screen when they become available. Till then this thing rocks.

Oh, it also keeps the wind off the neck. Important when the air temp is 35 F.

I used a Shortie RAM for the "pinch"
Originally tried a full length RAM, the mass of the bigger piece caused the top of the OEM shield to oscillate at freeway speeds. I was concerned this movement might cause fatigue at the upper screws holding shield to bike. Smaller RAM eliminated the movement.

Be careful what you strap onto your OEM shield. It wasn't made to have a sail added to it!
