Whant more off road capabilities on the 1190?
Change front rim (or both if possible) and upgrade front suspension!

The 990 needed suspension upgrade anyway if you planned to do anything serious offroad, so what's the big shakes?

Black Dog skid plate.

Hi!!.

Does somebody uses the Black Dog skid plate?. It looks very sturdy and reading the info on the web page it gives a solution to some side stands problems and gives more protection to the exhaust pipes, but it looks like the engine is very "closed" comparing with other skid plates. I'd like to know if there can be issues with over heating the engine.

Thanks!!.

Under warranty, my dealer replaced side stand and it's spring. This is 3rd replacement for side stand and I am not sure how many more time they need for my 2013 R.
This new one make fold/unfold side stand so light, finally.
I am happy because for 170cm rider like me, folding side stand might cause tip over...

I've ridden mine in some hot South Texas weather now and have not noticed that it adds any heat to an already hot bike. The side stand relocation is superb giving a sturdier mount and a better angle. I'm happy with it so far.

As a gesture of goodwill my warranty has been extended to May 2017 free of charge.

Anyone else had any notification? I am in the UK so we may get the letter earlier than others.
I had one of the first 1190s in The Netherlands and I just received the letter today. My warranty is now until 9 March 2017 and that's great!
The letter also urges owners to do the recent modifications. I'm already booked at the dealer to do the MSC (stability control) paid update at the same time as this is available again, after being pulled of KTM's servers because of problems.

Hello
I just bought a 2014 adventure , took it for a ride yesterday and I'm pretty impressed by it.
However i do have some questions.

The side stand is mounted only to the engine , wasn't that "fixed" for the 2014 models ?

And has any one experienced any problems with the clutch , its like it needs some adjustment or bleeding. Tried to adjust the lever and it "klonk" and wants to pull even when you pull it all the way to the bar , like it won't engage enough.

Also the idle is a bit high , just above 2000rpm ?

Sorry for my bad english and hello to everyone since I'm new to this place.

I have the same feeling, I was thinking that this is my timing mistake.

The demo bike which i tested had none of it , the idle was also lower on that bike. The idle might be high due to some break in mapping ? Well well will harass some different dealers during the day for some more info.

No, the side stand definitely wasn't "fixed" for 2014 just like KTM never "fixed" the design of the 950/990 models. If you ask the engineers in Austria, there is no problem with either design, which is why we incorporated a side stand relocation into our skid plate design for full protection.

So you can do this with confidence

I installed the black dog skid plate and side stand relocator and I am very impressed with it. Highly recommended.

I already have an aftermarket skid plate on my bike. Are there any plans to make a stand alone kickstand relocater?
