Look for the simple problem, wheel balancing.

Then check, under hard braking you feeling a knock through the steering...or hearing a knock..if so your steering bearings need to be torqued and thread locked.

Damper will only stop the tank slapping when the front gets light and road undulations force the wheel to track left and right or a stone or bump at speed...faster you go the worse it gets.

Again, start with the easy one, wheel balancing.

There are a shyte load of questions on this steering problem all over the forum, KTM MUST thread lock the nut.....I spent 11 months fighting with KTM to sort their shyte out and it's fianlly fixed my side now.

Oh and don't lift the frontend pulling the forks like we used to the do to see if there is play, the play is so small you will not notice it unless you braking...been down that as well.

That is the stuff......just remember, when you use the stuff your torque settings will change a bit to the factory spec. I left it to the KTM dealer as it was their shyte and the bike is under warranty.

Also have a look at the two bolts right at the bottom of the front forks, I also had a knock but it was not the steering it was that these two bolts had gone AWOL!

My 2013 1190 adv std.

I bought my 1190 std 6 weeks ago. Since then I have more than doubled its milages to about 7000 km. Around 600km are done on a race track. The 1190 is my 4th KTM. The earlier bikes
Have performed perfectly, and so has this so far.
The bike is definatly fast at the track, it's very nice on the road, and take me true the gravel and singletrack with ease aswell.
I have put on some assessories like ome heated grips, skidplate and engine protection. A Madstad 20" windshield, Scottoiler, Wings heatshield, SW-MOTECK side panniers and a Givi topbox.

Do not want to mess up anything so just checking. As I do not a garage I need to disconnect the battery and bring it up my apartment to charge. Will the bike show up any fault code after connecting back?

If I do not recall wrongly some owners had some fault codes showing..

Hello.

Since yesterday i am a new owner of 2013 1190 .
On my very first ride i noticed that when i brake i hear a "clicking" sound when the suspension compresses and again a click sound when the suspension returns to normal position.

It does not sound like a deeper noise like a lose bearing (i think), but more like a click sound almost every time i brake. I could not locate where it comes from, but i think that it comes somewhere from the upper part of the bike (front).

Any ideas ?
