Shim stacks on 04 KTM/WP 48MM's - 200 EXC
Just curious if we have anyone on this board - which I much prefer to KTMtalk - that has experience with suspension tuning on older (2004) KTM two strokes. I've done a ton of reading, ordered a bunch of shims and hope I have a decent formula for re-valving. Any second opinions appreciated. This is my first foray into suspension tuning, and I'm going all in.
170lbs no gear, racing b-class hare scrambles on black dirt with roots and rocks. Looking to soften the famously harsh, stictionee (new word!) WP forks. But also retain some bottoming resistance since they throw a few big jumps in our mostly technical woods courses. I removed my third bush and spacer, might do the hole drilling mod if needed, I have .42 fork springs and 88-250 shock springs Thinking I'll build my shim stacks as follows, race on Sunday! This came from reading a lot of old posts and getting a bit of direction from KTMLew:140mm oil height BV: 24 x .1 (2) 20 x .1 (1) 18 x .1 (1) 16 x .1 (1) 14 x .1 (1) 12 x .1 (1) 9 x .3 (1) 18 x .25 (1) - don't some say to get rid of this one?
