Yeah, but that's only going to make it easier. Instead of going to the supermarket, the polies upgraded foreigners to home or street delivery.

A bit like all the "coming to Oz for (x?) period of time... what should I see while I am there" threads we host at home in Oz McWideEyedandbushytailed...

I mean Europe is a pretty big and diverse place (if you include ALL of what isrefered to as Europe), and while it's true there's a number of places where you can ride through four countires in the space of an afternoon... all in all it is a pretty big place... so whether you coming for three weeks, or three months has a pretty big bearing on the what to "see and do" schedule.

What are you looking for primarily... culture (cities) or scenery (riding adventures).

In no particular ranking order (but consider you are arriving in the UK) cities that I would suggest are "must sees" (for moi in any case) would be; Londin, Edinborough, Paris, Barcelona, Cannes & Monaco (just to see how the other half live), Rome (if your into relics) Milan (if you're into classy brunettes), Geneve, Prague (culture out the wahzoo) and even as north as St Petersburg. On the way back south towards Amsterdam; drop in and see Copenhagen.

As far as scenery/riding goes... both Scotland and Wales is lot's to offer (they say Ireland too... but I've only ever been in vicinity of Dublin). Gibraltar and the coast/desertlike landscapes of southern/mediterranean Spain are awesome (and plenty great riding), the Pyrenees and on to the Alps of France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria... Once you get into Croatia (or head more north via Czecho and Poland there is more open acces "offroad stuff" than some the western europe countries... If you go up through the baltic states to SAt Petersburg... then over the top through Finland to the "top of the world" Nord Cape... the south through Norway (awesome!) and west coast, Sweden, through Denmark to Holland and the UK again.

Combine those cities and those places... you'd be pretty much full up, on the go for maybe six weeks, with maybe a day or so to enjoy each place... but you wouldn't be "putting down roots" anywhere to do it in that time frame.

(all of this info. McTuristguide... please take it as merely my own personal observations... an Aussie having lived, worked and travelled to all of the places I mentioned - and a great many more - since moving to Europe in 1996... My "must see" criteria are made in comparison to what we are familiar with in Australia - also a place I have travelled many parts of extensively and am familiar and proud of )

There are a number of Aussie travellers here on the OZ forum (McCardigan and Dave Ward spring to mind) who have done extended tours of duty in Southern Europe, the Alps, Scandinavia and the British Isles, that can no doubt give you tips and spin on things that they would recommend... as indeed, introduce yourself in the Europe forum (maybe make some country specific enquiries - not just a blanket "I'm comin' to Europe" deal ) and there is sure to be a heap of possibilities tossed up for you to consider.

But in the end... grab a bike, a map... and make up your own adventure... at your age, that's the best thing about it... just do it - anything - whatever or wherever you end up... it's ALL going to be an adventure!

The best advise I can give is as follows:

Travel light... a Visa Card and a box of condoms. Then follow ya dick.

Let your motto be: Lead on dick, I'm right behind you.

Don't ask me how I know. It's been a while now.

Macca go over there fuck their women and do what young'ns do.
Take chances, ride fast, drink like mad, party like each day is your last, but most importantly post pics here to piss off the overly sensible majority.

You know it makes sense

Yep, it does.

Go to Spain.
The girls are hot, the beer is cheap the people are friendly and the place never sleeps. Ok, it sleeps in the afternoon but not at night.

Is your LP and SP still up to date, McDuff? The International Licence may be your ticket to money in Europe. Speak to the drivers of the 18 to 30 yo bus tours. You'll do it easy. Good luck mate.
