This bike rocks!!!

Well I went and changed the suspension to "sport" and man it is stiff, a little to stiff, but it feels stuck to the ground. The bike feels a bit like my supermoto. I'm thinking I need to have super plush do my suspension though. I'm hoping to finish the beak-in miles this weekend and get the first oil change out of the way. Then it's a 24 hour endurance ride with the old man!!! I have a trip planned for Banff in september, and hopefully a trip to Moab as well and if I find the right group to go with... Mexico.

Be sure to contact some of us Calgary boys when you head to Banff! Search Calgary in topics or Calgarians. Plenty of 990's out here with riders who are out and about all the time.

400 miles yesterday.

So my goal of finishing the break in period was a success, road from Mill Valley to Fort Bragg and back totaling about 400 miles. I did my first oil change... HOLY F**K was that a bitch. I'm not accustomed to taking that much stuff off to change my oil. The oil overflowed, a screw from the glove box fell down on top of the air box and the gas tank was a MFer to get back on. I'm guessing you put about 2 liters in it start it for like 5 seconds to get the oil pumped then fill up the rest? It took me like 3 hours to do it. Its not a hard process just a long and tedious, I fallowed this shitty video on Youtube that missed a bunch of stuff I wished I knew about. The bike is a little sergy but I can deal with it, handles pretty good in the twisties I just haven't fully come to terms with the 21in tire, I doesn't feel as planted a 17 but it's not a 17 so that kinda makes sense. I'm still a very happy 990 adv owner. Any pointers on changing the oil would be much appreciated.

Here is a picture from point Arena... That's not me, that's a riding buddy (who knows how a motorcycle works).

Congratulations! You've got a mistress! An expensive high maintanence one, but well worth it for the many happy romps to come.

Just wait until you have finished the running-in period and you can open her up. Then you will have to user a visor so your teeth dont get bug splattered...

Enjoy many happy days flying the orange.

I plan on it, I'm getting a GPS first, then a giant loop. I don't want to change the exhaust I like quiet bikes and it sounds good stock anyways, I do want to find out if I can run the 2 to 1 with a stock can(I want that fuel cell, these things use gas). I have been trying to figure out what parts to get first, and which ones I need over want.

I just ended up buying a new one because everybody wanted so much for used ones. Plus with new you know everything that has been done to it. I had a hard time rationalizing paying 5k more then blue book just because it was upgraded. When I put money into a bike I don't expect to get that money out of it, but that's just me, especially for a 6+ year old bike.
