Even riders that like the modifications want to make them themselves. Stock sells. Modifications usually don't sell. Maybe a couple of exceptions but one would be a bike that was purposely built for racing and was a winner. The winners bike sells.

I think you might be having a problem with your statement in the ad, "I don't know what these forks are, or where they came from" It was something like that. I think you might do better if you find out what these forks are and add "Popular modification" or some other salesman BS.

I am not a go getter hype type A personality. But I know how it's done and can usually write circles around the pros. Blows my mind to think some people make money doing this kind of stuff.

x2.
I wouldn't consider continuing to lower your price to try to get a sale- that seems a reasonable deal. Just figure out exactly what the front end is and wait for the right buyer.
Once you've got the details I think the modifications will help sell it rather than the opposite.
No one wants a front end that they don't know what it is- and if they can find out after they buy it then you can find out now. Get some calipers on the fork tubes, get some measurements of the triple clamp geometry (upper and lower fork clamp diameters, offset, fork tube center to center) look for any labeling. Photograph it and write down your measurements and then an hour or two max of googling and you will have your front end.
Good luck, looks nice.

Thanks for the tips. The previous owner told me what the forks were off of, and I thought I remembered, but when I took them to the suspension shop for rebuild, they weren't what I thought. I thought they were Honda, but they were actually Kawasaki, or maybe it was the other way around. I know they are made by KYB. It turns out the suspension shops don't really care, they mic the seals and order them that way.

I was just trying to be honest in the ad. I would probably make a poor salesman.

Also, I agree that original is almost always better than modified/customized. I thought my price reflected that.

On the other hand, I have historic plates on it, so the registration is paid for 10 years. And with classic bike insurance it costs very little to keep it insured.

Anyone have a set of BING 64/32/3' and 4's mouldering on a shelf somewhere they'd be willing to part with?

I'm having a wee spot of trouble with mine... namely a bunch of broken jets stuck in the carb body. Removal has not gone well thus far.

GS Paris Dakar Skid Plate w/Oil Pan-Sold

I have an original BMW GS Paris Dakar skid plate. This is no longer available from BMW. Oil pan included. $225.00
Fits:
R80G/S 1981-1987
R80ST 1983-1984
R80GS 1988-1995
R100GS 1988-1995

Since all of the 1970-1995 oil pans are interchangeable it could be made to fit any Airhead Boxer.

You'd be ahead of the game to replace with another model. The 3's and 4's were the first issue of this series carbs from Bing and they have several inherent problems. If not for the size engine you need then the jets can be changed too.

According to the Bing Book 9 & 10's or 13 & 14's are all R75 carbs. The first two are for /5 the later two are for /6.

I would start with a little bit later body like a 64/32/11 and 12.

I wouldn't mind that if anyone has any for sale at a decent price. I just lost a eBay auction for a set of /19-20's by 1.99$.

If anyone has any BING 32mm carbs mouldering on their shelf, I'm definitely interested... trawling fleabay for now.
