I have a toaster tank I'd like to trade. I had intentions of repainting it black and using it as my main tank, but have decided I like the touring tank just fine.

I got it locally from a guy who raced BMWs. It has three dents. He tells me they came from a day at Lucasfilm recording motorcycle sound FX. He went into a tankslapper and lost control. The handlebars slammed the gas tank.

All-in-all, it's rough, but repairable. Even rideable if you seal the inside with POR-15. The chrome panels are in pretty darn good condition. The right one has a ding in it, but that's it. The porcelain emblems are -- like all emblems of the era, it seems -- chipped.

I'd like to trade for the following (+/- cash, as the case may be):
  • Gearbox: 4 or 5 speed. Doesn't matter so long as it's compatible with an R75/5 and rust/leak-free. Plug n' play is ideal, but if you have one with some issues let me know.
  • 32/10 Final drive with splines in good condition
  • ??? What kinda /5-compatible farkles you got? EZ-clutch? Racks? Tank bags? Charging upgrade?

Obligatory inside the gas tank shot that looks vaguely pornographic

I've got a couple of things from my vast pile-o-Airhead stuff that I don't use, so I figured that maybe someone out there might want them.
My bike is a 1976 R90/6.

First up is a windshield and mount that I used on and off for the past couple of Winters. I bought a DL1000 in June, and the Airhead doesn't see the day-to-day commuting duty in bad weather like it used to, so this is just taking up space.
It started life as a stock BMW accessory, and I rode with it like that for a while, but never really liked the shape, huge size, or the fact that once in a while I would knock my faceshield against the upper edge.

Enter Mr. Dremel Tool. I trimmed it down quite a bit and ended up with this:

The shield gave me quite a bit of buffeting at helmet level before the trim job, and is now vastly improved.

I don't have a clue what this might be worth. The chrome mount is showing a but of surface rust in places, and would be easy to clean up with an SOS pad. I was just too lazy to do it knowing that one ride in the rain would likely put it right back to where I started.
Included are the two upper clamps for the handlebar mount. Normally these have studs in them (also included) but I removed these in favor of long bolts. I have a CC Products billet upper triple clamp, and the stock studs were too short.

How about $50 plus shipping from Auburn, CA, zip code 95602? It's a bulky item, so the shipping is probably going to run anywhere from $25-$35.

Up next is a pair of aftermarket saddlebag brackets made by our very own inmate Carl. I had grand plans at one time of turning my bike into a "Poor Man's GS", but decided against doing so. I also had plans to install a pair of aluminum panniers, but again, decided against it. The purchase of the V-Strom kind of took the wind out of my sails as far as modifying the R90. It's done yeoman's duty for a lot of years, and it's a damned good bike as is.

I think that I paid Carl $200 plus shipping for the racks. They've been mounted on the bike once, and left on for three days. I removed them and set them on a shelf, and there they've sat.

I'd like to get $125 plus shipping.

As always with Airhead stuff, I'm open to trades.

Thanks for looking!

Mikuni Carbs off my R60/5

These Mikuni carbs were on my R60/5 when I bought it. They are now surplus to my needs. Not sure exactly what size they are, but the bike ran great when I got it. Come as-shown with the throttle cables, the intake rubbers and clamps, and a pair of rubber adapters for the airbox with clamps. The airbox rubbers are actually Fernco adapters of some kind (like from Home Depot) but they looked fine on the bike (see the last pic). $275 +shipping from MD 21754. Do yourself a favor and get rid of those Bings before spring

Pic of the bike before I removed the carbs (note the fitment of the Fernco's):

Oh no! I say do the Poor Man's G/S-GS!!!

FYI. Those mounts look like new. A rider can use them 'as is' for custom panniers or mount Givi's to them w/ the appropriate Givi hardware. I believe that you ordered them w/out the hardware so as to mount custom cases.

Right you are, Carl. They're beautifully made, and will do the job very nicely, but I'm just going to leave the old bike in stock shape. For now.

This is a bit of a stretch ... but I have a friend who wants an 88-95 R100GS. He wants it in 'ridable' condition, and is not really worried about asthetics. He is a bit of a wrench, and lives just up the street from me ... so I will be helping him with the routine maintenance on the beastie.

Anyone know of a GS in the SE USA? He'd like to try and keep the price tag under $4K. But he's negotiable for something that is worth the cash.

PM me. Thanks ya'll.

I have a Corbin seat for monoshock BMWs but I no longer have a monoshock BMW. I ordered it with an inch higher padding because Corbins usually sit too low for me. Right now it has a pin to go thru that hole in the frame instead of hinges, but I have the hinges too. Located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. I'm asking $250.

As seen on a 1985 model.

It'll fit a /7 also, but not real well. There's a big gap between the seat and tank and there's no back cowling on the /7.

Hey, I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post this in(my first post). I am in the pnw area and Im looking to buy a r100gs with low miles asap.

Ive been looking for a while and recently have found a few that seem almost there.

at the moment theres one at a salvage auction in SoCal, the pictures make it look great, but without being able to see it in person, im not confident enough to go for it.

theres also one here in town that looks incredible, but he wants 5k and thats a bit out of my range.

does anyone have any leads? anyone in oregon(my home) or washington or NorCal have a bike that they could part with to someone who's looking for a lifelong traveling companion?
thanks soo much.

If you still can't find one by summer, keep in mind the national BMW MOA rally will be bringing a lot of riders and bikes near you in July.

If it's pretty enough, low miles, and what you want, I don't think 5K is too much for an R100GS. But I'm not an expert on these. Then of course there is how much money you have not how much it costs?

Good Luck.
