Bing question,pounding?

Question,'83 R100RT unknown km.(lots),new to me, carb clean-up.
Left one normal,some crud around atomizing nozzle,installed new "O" rings.
On right side, same crud,upon dissambly, I noticed ridges on bottom of slide where it is hitting
the carb body.Quite hard as evidenced by flattened carb body and slide.Appears to be caused by a "pulsing", pounding caused by the slide.I did not run this bike much before starting work on it,so I have no history
on a carb noise.On the few Bings I have worked on, I have never seen this.
Causes and corrections?

I am working on the picture thing, honest.
We just hired a new employee ( 40+ yrs. junior to me) I will teach him old school wrench useage,he will teach me how to use 10% of my cell phone capabilities,and how to post pics on ADV.
I already have the pics on the computer.
While we are at it.
How do I get the needle out of the holder in the slide ?.

Wrap a piece of leather around the needle (I cut up an old work glove--worked great) to prevent damage to the needle, grab it with your smoothest faced pliers, and pull. Should pop out.

On my 83 ST, I've never had to remove the needles, but my understanding is that they need to be turned through the 4 or so clicks that raise/ower them and then they will come out. But I also can't remember if they come out the top or bottom.

Hans down at Hucky's was explaing the couple of different types of needle mounts that Bing used over the years.

I know that was a lot of help, but its a cautionary speculation before pulling too hard on something.

But the leather wrap works great when turning the needles to adjust, too. That much I do know.

Weak spring, weak diaphragm or way out of tune are the only things I can think of that would cause this problem.
