I think we've got 'er covered, boss. Thanks for the offer!

See you early starters in front of the Red Robin at 8:45a and I'll be in the IHOP at the end of that strip mall row (same parking lot as R-Robin) at 8:00a hoovering down some pancakes. Drunk Uncle will be with me and I'm going to try catching up w/ you, too, Heli.

I just drove by a bunch of tri athletes. Not one rider looked anything like the pictures you posted. I think there was some false advertising going on. Barb

You saw the ones that need to tri harder.

Thanks for the offer, Barb. The hat situation worked out perfectly.

...and thanks to the volunteers. We all very much appreciate you taking the time to help!

Mission accomplished

That went as well as expected. Still, it was pretty fun, despite the low temperatures.

Get in line, dude!

legion, thanks again for facilitating our contribution to one of the signature and revered events in Alaska.

I learned more from 4 hours of conversation with my Marshall than I could've imagined. She's a coach/athlete herself, and radically inspiring. JT, you're great!

Thanks also to Bill and Sheryl, the other marshals, and my fellow riders. I look forward, backward, and side-to-side to next year.

Drafting FTW!

Right on! Same thing happened at my house, too. About 1/2 hour before sign up opens it's all... I wonder if I should do the GNT this year? Oh, my motivation blah blah blah...

10 minutes before the site opens though it's waaay more serious. Like "ok, I need to know. Can you log on yet 'cause I can't. Let's see who can get on first. You on? No? Try again. You on?"

I'll get squared away w/ Wild Bill and Jamie to see what the skinny is this year and thanks for stepping up! You guys all did an outstanding job last year!

Unfortunately I will not be able to help out this year. I will be enjoying 100+ degree temps during this event.

Simestd, you're in

Heli, you're in

I'm in, too.

Could use one more. Have you been on the fence? The way this works is that the race goes for the bigger part of the day but that's too long to put around w/ a Course Marshall on the back so we break it up.

Last year we met in the morning and put some pancakes and eggs into submission and then jabbered about what would be happening for a few minutes... then we did what we jabbered about.

There are a couple bikes in the morning and a couple bikes in the afternoon, each of which have a Course Marshall on the back so there needs to be some kind of reasonably comfortable perch on the back of your bike if you're thinking about this.

Mull it over. Ask around. Anybody that's done it in the past has enjoyed it for sure. You'll find that it starts out being a good time and keeps going that way.

Pissed

Would have loved to help, but I am stuck in the hell of bike projects. Will be back in as soon as I finish mt infinitely long list of infinitely impossible things.

This year the GNT is on Sunday, May 19th.

The race is an all day, all lady event, with festivities starting as early as 0730 and going until the last racer is in. The race begins and ends at Bartlett High School in Anchorage.

Course info:

http://www.goldnuggettriathlon.com/course.php

More info about volunteering:

Although if you're interested in riding with a bike course official as a pillion (which this tread is mostly about), get a hold of Legion or just post up in this thread.

Whatever you end up doing, it's a lot of fun and you get a t-shirt out of it. For those single guys, it's a *target rich* environment as well
