I'm having a ball... but who were you talking to.

I frigging hate the SPOT interface and the spotadventures page. I'd give you the link if I could figure it out. My missus has it... so I'll get it from her sometime soon. I set up an "adventures" page when I left Sydney last July. Nada.. nothing. Contacted the arseholes at SPOT who sent me about 50 pages of locations in a pdf file. I still turn it on and the missus can see where I am... but did I mention that I wouldn't piss on the company if it was on fire.

SpotWalla - NEW ADV Location Page

Guys, set yourself up on SpotWalla - way superior site to the official Spot tracking site. There is also an ADV member Location Page, follow this thread:

May have been mentioned before, maybe not.

I've been using Energizer "advanced" AAA's (silver and orange packaging) in my new Spot2. Energizer claim 50% longer lasting than the Energizer "max" type. Pack of 10 from Woolies/Coles are about $14 and probably represent better value than the lithiums at $20 for a 4 pack. I haven't tested them back to back.

I've very reliably been getting 3 days tracking (10 hours each day) out of each set, plus the odd check in/ok message as well. They may well go longer than that but I changed them at the end of every 3rd day.

Spot 1

If you're only getting 3 days out of a set of batteries that's pretty poor. Spot's do like the higher voltage output of Lithium's around 1.4 volts.

Alkaline or Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries only provide 1.2 volts.

I use Energizer Lithium AA's in my Spot #1. I got 3 months on one set of batteries using tracking mode every day on my USA trip.

You can get Energizer Lithiums AA/AAA on eBay for as little as $1.20 each delivered. I bought a pack of 12 and they have an 8 year shelf life.

Cool, OK thanks. Presumably the same logic applies to the Spot2

I'd only read before that alkaline was not the way to go. Ebay, here I come.
