Wow! I follow you guys everyday. A 8 year old girl and a 13year old boy making your stay enjoyable!!
How many families can do this in North America? Mature beyond their years.

Yeah in New Zealand the parents would be arrested and the kids thrown in a home.

These guys have life skills early on so I am not sure the whiteyfoo system is all that great, having said that there were no locks on the doors and it was as safe as you could ever get, crime pretty much a non event.

Quite refreshing eh

Yes it is, has caught our eye in many and unexpected places

Yeah the kids were pretty cool dudes and wanting to help, I think they enjoyed having some whiteyfoos stay and they had money for mum and dad on their return.

I must admit at first I thought WTF but you know you take the full picture in and all is cool, they are more than capable, just check what and how he served dinner!!!

So glad to see you made it into the Coca Cayambe park and you did the right thing with the ranger. Perfect play! That park and the town of Oyacachi are just amazing. Its funny how the kids and the way things are done in Ecuador remind us all of something we used to have in our countries - FREEDOM! No excessive regulations - only government intervention if real harm is being done. Otherwise you can live your life as you want and raise your kids the way you see fit.... It is why we love to live here - it is great to be free!

We are enjoying your ride report very much. Thanks!

Heya mate, yeah beautiful place with epic views, certainly a great ride and would have been perfect if we could have done the last bit down to the main road but you can't help what mum nature does and of course new events unfolded to in a great way.

The kids were amazing eh and yes the freedom and lack of overly heavy rules here is fresh coming from New Zealand (and more so other places), I very much treasure that as we (New Zealand) are starting to get heavily over regulated like the rest of the supposed 1st world.

So the question then is are experience road wise "life ready" children worse off than "cottonwool kids" .... I think not.
