Hope Ellen is okay and the only damage is the kind that can be repaired or replaced, not the kind that requires a trip to the hospital..

Ellen, your efforts to keep on going inspire me to try things for myself.

Enjoying reading about your adventures and following along.

All the best to both of you on your journey.

Good luck and safe travels.

Cheers,

JM.

WOW, some very trying days in Moab for sure! But glad to see you BOTH made it thru in (almost) one piece. Nothing duct tape, a hammer, and some glue can"t fix Praying your next days travels are less eventful.

Wicked White Rim Trail

I was going to tell u in my last post that most of the off road trails there would be a test for Ellen , let her have a couple of days rest , nothing like a good massage and glass of red . Got my DR going again today, pulled the starter out and stripped and cleaned it , looks like it had water in it , probably the last Nevis ride done that . Snow is thawing out here and the sun was shining today . Cheers Toddy

I was all right, only Andi was tired from picking up my bike under 40degrees. We did have some fun, and no off road any more, yah!

Thank you. Lucky i was fine, we have ordered new cases, they are on the way. My broken ones still stand up for the rain, although I did wrap my beddings and clothes with extra plastic bags.

I enjoyed most of the trip, apart from the sand pit, not going to try any more off road.

Thumb Glad you made the Trail though !!

Beautiful place to see sunrise right .

Ellen I got bounced off of my Honda Transalp 7 times on that trail , and one of my friends on a Triumph Tiger called it " the Brown Rim trail ! "

Refering to his shorts I believe ...

Good thing you or the Suz didn't go over the edge .

We have had an intensce week in Jackson , some idiot was burning trash
in a barrel 1/2 mile from the city dump (lazy arse) and it got out of control
and burned 3,200 acres behind Snow King mountain , the one with the tunnel to no where . We nearly had to evacuate the town .

When I turned on ADV Rider and seen ride report on White Rim Trail I thought this will be fun , In a weeks time you will look back and say that wasnt so bad after all , I have fond memeories of the Black Bear Pass in Colorado , all the off road riders told me not to take my DR over it ( it will be hard work on that bike Toddy ) . Well i had to do it a , picking up a DR at 12,000 feet on a hot day on a steep mountainside by yourself is no joke . Enjoy the sun Toddy

Moab

Andi, Ellen, Joe here from the camp in Moab. Just wanted to say howdy and let you know I'm following your adventure. Fantastic pictures and commentary! Keep breaking those side cases and keeping the bones intact.

Let me know how it goes with that computer. Hopefully you're taken care of.

Moab ! ? !

Hi guys,
Ellen, your a champion!
I have a suggestion to make, soft luggage. Or at least lighter boxes.
I too have had plenty of off in Moad and too lived to tell the tail. However I was only on a mt bike and a novice rider in the saddle. Dislocated my shoulder with a five miles to ride back to the trail head.

It's true what "they" say about the adventure never really beginning until the original plans go all wrong. And it's also very true that in time, if you have not already reflected on this, you will look back and be increadably proud of your accomplishment to endure Andi's plan to ride Moab in 40 degree heat, on a fully loaded DR. WTF !!!

Well done the both of you.
Andi, I recon that lady has earned herself a day of pampering at the local spa.

Heya Dave, great words mate.

The case only weight 3.2 kg each so they are way lighter than Zega, Jessy etc, we pondered the hard/soft option many times, for off road the soft is better but for 95 % of TMK's adventure which is shingle road and tar back roads the hard cases are better for water, security etc.

BTW .. it wasn't my plan to ride it ... I just foolishly agreed., although thoroughly impressed with Moab we could have done without the big damage this early in the trip.

Ellen is still thrilled to have done it and I am too as it was hard work for anyone, we rate Moab as one of the best we have seen

A n d I need pampering to fix all my pulled muscles from lifting the bike up so many times, 14??!! , think I will register for the weight lifting champs in Olympics now.

Moab... in the words of Sir Ed.... you 'knocked the bastard off!' Hang on... it knocked E. off :( BUT, for every time E was knocked off, she climbed back on... albeit after you had righted the 'horse.'

MONSTER effort you guys..... BOTH of you!!!!
