do not enter----eastern australia

I did this 2 day ride last thursday and friday.

I went from sydney to bathurst via the blue mountains on the 1st day

stopped overnight in bathurst then on to" hill end " via the bridle track,

from there i went to sofala, then capertee, lithgow and back to sydney,

all up about 800 kms

1st stop was katoomba to have a look at the 3 sisters,

a famous tourist destination

next stop was hartley, an historic village not to far away

back soon

winburndale rivulet coming up

now i know i'm on the right road

macquarie river

the last time i did this road in a 4wd about 10 years ago

it was an easy sunday drive

up the road a bit

i'm high above the river now, i'ts a long way down and

very steep, almost vertical

i stop here to assess the situation

this is getting to be a little freaky, and it aint over yet, well maybe the worst of it

further up the road i had to cross the turon river , no pics, as i was more

concerned about getting across than wasting time taking pics.

after a while of long up hill riding i finally made hill end and had

a quick beer at the pub

this place was a classic boom town back in the 1850's

gold was the reason . there is a tourist mine not to far away

these two never made it out
