Record Breaking Wx 13MAY2012

Thought I'd throw some pics up from yesterdays storm. I was on duty so it involved a lot of silly things like driving in a white out on a runway.

enojy.

It didnt start out so bad

Just some sad frozen planes

Sad and lonely

Suddenly! A wild snow squall appears!! (notice our white colored "Yellow Gear")

there is another plane behind this one, maybe 100ft or so

I was "Riding Brakes". I sit in the pilots seat, touch a bunch of stuff to see if they notice, but mainly make sure the plane doesn't run off without the Tug. took 45 minutes to get back to the hangar, no clue why, perfect visibility.

and finally, the last Herk in. "Sad Herk is sad."

Great photos! Actually looks kinda exciting.

Love those C-130's, ESPECIALLY with JATO bottles!

Thanks for sharing.

I've said it before, but I think it bears repeating...sad Herk is sad because it's dressed silly.

Edit: Is that Ext. Power hanging from the ceiling? If so that's pretty badass.

Probably helps the snow and ice slide off easier too... Taking snow off of a frozen F-15 blew azz, that flat paint has relentless holding power on ice.

Sheesh! Guys get so accustomed to living on an island in the balmy Pacific that when a touch of real Alaska weather hits they think it's something.

I've shot at mechanics for less than that.

Snowed pretty good in Girdwierd that day as well IIRC.
