I will be there sometime at the end of this week. Mini-COG rally out of Marlinton, and Rella's is one of the suggested route lunch stops.

For me, "suggested" don't cut it. I will be there for sure. Gots to see my ladies.

She has them.

The idea came from another COG member a couple of years ago. Last time I was there, she still had some stashed away.

Needless to say, the truck and one of the bikes are covered:

Have another for the Connie, but just haven't put it on yet,

Will be over there Friday or Sat. Hopefully we can hook up.

I'll have to check with my wife to see what my schedule holds.
We refinished the dining room floor and she loves it, now she wants to do the rest of the house.

Since COG was having a w/e rally over in Marlinton this past w/e (08-09-12 thru 08-12-12), I did make it by Rella's Thursday after grabbing the WV tag. I was the only one there for the couple of hours I spent with these fine ladies, but they both seem to be in good spirits. Jeaneace has lost a lot of weight, but seems to be happy and is just as spunky as she always has been.

Friday had about 15 of the COG bunch stop by there for vittles and to visit, so hopefully, this will provide enough encouragement for her to keep the doors open.

I may be back over there the last of Sept. AND the first of October, and will certainly do all I can to swing by there again should I make it.

Hey Guy! I think I was over in that area when you were! Matter of fact I think I passed you a time or two, I was in wifi/cell hell so I didn't know you were over there or we would have rode. Did you see me and the beasty GS? Dad had his GS over there too, we were at a cabin in sittlington along the greenbrier and saw several loads of DS bikes go by, but non stopped to talk

I saw so many bikes when out roaming about, so we very well may have passed each other.

Our group this past w/e had a mix of street and DS type bikes.... probably about a 75% to 25% ratio. My apologies if it was any of our group that didn't stop to chat.... including myself. Most get "focused" on a getting to a destination and can't see the forest for the trees, or visa-versa.

Ditto on being in wifi/cell hell. Marlinton has a private cell service, so phones from normal providers don't work. Proximity to Green Bank also kills the rest until you're away from the dead area. WiFi at the Inn was only available over in the office/restaurant area, and tin cans and string would have been faster.

We'll be over there again in the near future, so perhaps we could hook up then?

Maiden Voyage

Stopped at Rella's on Thursday for lunch. She is doing fine - in fact, she looked peppier and happier than I've seen her in a while.

Rella busy in the kitchen cooking up another great meal.

She was busy working on a "Rose Cake" with petals sticking out waiting for frosting to fill them in. Yummm...

She was in the middle of frosting the cake, filling in all of the "petals" with icing.

I ordered my favorite - a hamburger with lettuce, tomato and onion. The tomato was from her garden.

For dessert, blackberry cobbler. I asked where she got the blackberries, and she laughed and said, "All over." and pointed to the hills around the diner.

And finally, my excuse for eating there today - the first trip on my "new" bike. Last week, I bought a 2007 V-Strom 1000 (just like my old 2005 except a little different shade of blue and with only 13K miles). Rella was happy that I chose her place as my first ride destination. I was happy too. Nice to be back on two wheels after a 1-year break. (BTW - the flash made the blue pinstripes on the wheels much brighter than they actually appear. I guess that will help with night-time visibility.)
