Vegas Supercross Trail Ride

Just Rolled in from Southern Cali and the greatest ride of my career! For years I have wanted to ride the California Desert and see Supercross in real life. But at my level of ability, given the distance I have to travel, the license restrictions, I wasn't sure it would happen! I finally booked and All Inclusive adventure, 4 day tour with Go Baja Riding Tours, out of California. They do California to Vegas trips as well as Baja. I am not usually the type to do something in a group like this and wasn't sure the organized program was my cup of tea. Tour company owner Bruce Anderson called me, gave me the details and it was enough of the right answers to get me on board. As it turned out they have a great program and we had beautiful weather. I even jumped into the Colorado River with all my gear on!After Go Baja Riding Tours owner Bruce Anderson personally picked me up at my hotel in Ontario CA we drove down to Barstow CA. The crew had us checked into the hotel and we rode about 60 miles around the foothills. Then we headed out to a great restaurant in town for dinner. It was a great first night.Thursday morning we woke up early and rode threw Afton Canyon, Mojave trail, and across the Baker Dry lake I think it was. We had a small group of riders. I was the token "canadian" with the least ability, but Bruce kept a pace that wasn't to tough for me and I was riding their 450x CRF Hondas, just like my bike here in Canada. So I was fairly comfortable. I was not quite ready for the "heat." The other 4 riders were all from California and all they kept saying was what a break we were getting on the temperatures! It was about the 4th day that I got used to the 85 degrees. I really enjoyed the desert vistas and valleys, Go Baja Riding had a magazine guy along to do a story and they were testing a new Beta open class for stroke. I was able to ride it the last day from Laughlin Nevada to our tours end in Las Vegas. I think the Beta is the bomb! I really liked it. Power and handling was top notch. I might sell my 450x. We spent 2 nights in Laughlin Nevada at a casino/hotel alongside the Colorado river. The tour company charges one price for everything, meals, hotels, bikes, gas, etc.. We rode one full day of single track and it was very challenging even the "A" enduro guys were tired that day. So I guess i was pulling my own, I think the Beta "low seat" helped me there. I didn't know at the start of this trip what to expect, but I was very impressed with the service and attention to detail. We also had a trail guide by the name of Larry Roeseler. He is a Baja "trophy truck" racer, out of Las Vegas. He lead parts of the tour for Bruce Anderson who is also a Baja racer and former class champion. The tour company had hotels rady at vegas and we all got showered up, grabbed some dinner, then had box seats at the Vegas Supercross! What a cap off to a great trip. We all went our own way on Sunday. Go Baja Riding's team truck left and I stayed on a few more days in Vegas to get some R&R.I am already planning my Baja 1000 mile ride with these guys for November. I am ready to get going on our season up here, now the snow is melting! Hope to see you guys on the trail.!

+1 for a fellow Canucklehead! I'm from Calgary but I live in Vegas. Where you from? When are you doing that Baja 1000? I might have to join you.

Thanks for the tip on Go Baja Riding Tours. A bucket list item may get crossed off after all!
