R80ST Ignition Switch repair/replacement

The ignition switch on my 80ST can only turn one click instead of two. Can the ignition switch be repaired by myself or a locksmith?

The OEM BMW ignition part cost $108. Are there after-market ignition switch that can be used to replace the factory unit?

Thank you for the reply,

you can get a used ignition switch quite cheaply or you can use a later series or a gs one (second hand) and solder a bridge on the back of it between two of the wires (i did this on mine) It creates the same wiring connection circuit as the ST ( if you decide to do this let me know and I will look up what I connected as I cant remember off hand) but if you check out the wiring diagram you will see the two different key circuits and they are easily re mapped.

A grand opportunity to get the BMW switch used in Europe on these bikes, i.e. a switch with 5 positions
ignition on
ignition + park light
ignition + park + headlight

It's same swith used on 1974 (only) /6 bikes.
