Advice on buying a used Concours - Page 2

They are a great bike, I`ve owned 2. A `99 that I put over 120K on and my `06 that is approaching 120K. Between both bikes I`ve spent less than $100 on repairs. I`ve never had any kind of issues on the road.
I`m currently thinking of replacing my `06 but it is hard for me decide what to get that will be as reliable. They do have some of the problems mentioned, ie water pump, j-box and cam pitting but I dont think its much of an issue. My 2 brothers also owned a concours with 100K + and none of them have any issues. A couple of lobes on my intake cam are a little pitted but it has been like that for over 80K miles so I`m not too worried.

I got rid of mine for a few reasons:

It would catch a lot of dirty air, and feel skittish with any kind of vehicle in front of me.

It was pretty buzzy, if I kept it I would get the heavier bar ends from Murphs kits.

It just didn't "Do it for me"

Great bikes, just not my cup of tea.

Picked up an 2001 with 15.5k showing last month for $3150. Aftermarkets included
steel brake lines
ZZR1200 rear shock and Progressive fork springs
Murph's fork brace, dual front headlights, Holeshot slip ons and jet kit
Rifle windscreen
Corbin seat.

The right foot peg snapped off on the way home and the coolant reservoir leaked. Replaced tires with new Avons and lower pegs plus some bar risers.
The riding position is a biq question mark for me. Time will tell.
