I have a feeling my little short easy rides are going to be less popular than before after this last fiasco......
I'm not sure I'm going to go with me !!!!!!! :bludh

Well... Friday was less eventful than Thursday. Especially regarding pics- I took none.
![]() My fixed radiator seemed to hold, so I departed on a solo ride to parts unknown. None of my Tulsa peeps were there yet... with the exception of Celtazon. I didn't want to ride singletrack because I needed to preserve the bike and body for the Hardwood Hills Enduro up in Missouri on Sunday. ![]() My wanderings started at Mill Creek on the blue loop (quad trail), where I dumped out on Fly Creek Rd. (IIRC). Headed South on the Pig Trail for a bit then East toward the "Whoopdy" GPS route from the SLAP-Trax thread. Again, this didn't work out for me. Found some road closures due to trespass signs and logging re-routes. Eventually had to abort mission and headed to Ozone for lunch. Had the steak sandwich at the Burger Barn. Meh. Shoulda had a burger. From there, I headed back to WRM to find several OK inmates arriving or enroute. Saw Farscape in passing while headed up to WRM, and NNichols had arrived. I finally got access to T-Towner central - Cabin C - and started some bike wrenching in prep for the enduro. While I was doing this, I loaned out my trailer to Mossycreek, et al. for a BMW creek extraction. I don't have those details, so I'll defer.![]() Had a nice BBQ dinner at the lodge and a night of general BSing while the SLAP band played acoustic tunes. ![]() Sacked out in the lonely cabin at about 11pm and barely stirred when Tomski and Dirt2007 FINALLY arrived at midnight. Saturday morning Newner finally arrived (with two flat tires). He convinced me to join the crew for a half-day ride called the "Newner Backdoor" ![]() So I ditched my truck and trailer at Mill Creek (so I could make a speedy departure later) and met Newner, Tomski, Dirt2007, and Carl at Turner Bend. On our GPS tour-de-confusion, we found some unused trails and did some bushwacking. It was great. Here are a few pics and videos of the infamous double-log crossing. Quite an obstacle for some 650s. ![]() ![]() ![]() When we surfaced from the woods, we were right on the doorstep of Catalpa Cafe. Had a nice lunch then stopped in Oark for fuel. From there, I parted company, made my way to the truck, and hit the road for Missouri. I hope The afternoon's ride and Saturday night festivities were a success. ![]() I made it up to Mansfield, MO without issue (still no spare tire, btw). Rode in an enduro on Sunday. Got my ass thoroughly kicked (with a dose of heat exhaustion) and somehow squeaked by with a 3rd place class finish. Looking forward to SLAP next year...

http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CIYBEPMCMAE# I hope never to have to use it, but judging from some of the jams I have found myself in the past, it is a good idea for me to have it handy.

SLAP was kinda boring this year
Thursday: Dirty Dog arrives with a flat tire Claiming to have drive on it from Tulsa. Since that didnt get him enough attention He leans his bike over on some rocks and claims to have put a hole in the radiator, he JB welds a spot in a perfectly good radiator hoping that people with think hes is some kind of MacGyver.
Fri: Albie desides to Play Soccer with a small rock at Mill Creek and jambs his pinky toe. Fri. One of Katbeans buddies was missing his wife an came up with a creative way to get some extra phone time with her. Had something to do with shin spints. Fri. One of the Big Beemers guys was washing his bike in Lee Creek and claims it wasn't running right and need a tow. I think he didnt want to get it dirty again. Sat. Magoo thought his seat was to hard and wanted some one to ride his bike a while. He gets a charlie horse on his leg and desides to rub wild grapes all over his hamstring to give it a better presentation. Toyman swaps out bikes with Magoo like 15 time trying to decide if he want to switch from RED to BLUE. Rides one for a minute the rides the other a minute>>>>>One for a minute the other for a minute. Mountainmoto breaks away from the group has a six pack of beer and brings back a sip of water for the guys. WHAT A PAL. Zecatfish desides to leave so he can go hang out with Miss Paula at Camp knowing no one else is around. Gus sets back laughing to himself with that deep voice "15 miles and 500 pictures per hour is not boring its scenic and preserves memories" "I like Pictures Bahaaaaaaaaa,Bahaaaaaa" Lets trey 25 miles and 3000 pictures in 6 hours that will be much better" Bahaaaaaa. Elvis thinks about checking on the guys then realizes he might have to ride at 15 miles and 500 pictures per hour and he buggs out. I wish I could have stayed on Sat to hear all the made up BS bench racing. Glad all injuries appeared to be minor and every one is OK, I really did enjoy Thursday and Friday. DirtyDog congrats on the Third Place. Zac and I both got in Third Place in our classes on Sunday also. |
