Panniers

Does anybody know of a pannier that I can mount to my stock BMW mounts? The bike is a '83 R100RS.I'd like something larger than the BMW boxes.Thanks.

can mount pretty much anything to the stock racks, pelicans, happy trails etc with "pucks" or even milk crates, and even 5 gallon buckets if you are creative enough (saw a klr with buckets on it, no joke)

Drawbacks to using the stock mounts for the attachment of 'serious' panniers:
  • The hoops of the stock mounts are inboard of the shocks. So flat back mounting of a pannier isn't feasible, unless the pannier has the odd back features of the Krausers.
  • The welds on the stock mounts when stressed w/ 'serious' panniers are weak links.

How about a pair of military "mermites". I paid $19.95 apiece for the ones I mounted on my Transalp and chances are my G/S will get a pair too. With some elbow oil, spray paint and a few stickers, they can look pretty good. (I just hate the BMW boxes)
