1st Ride on my DR350se 1995.
Just got a 1995 DR350se last weekend, havent got around to ride it, quite busy with life at the moment.
I realise the battery is dead, been trying to charge it but it get the bike going for 4-5 kickover only...bummer..well. So after work i got home charge the battery and was good enough for a 1 st ride. I could not wait until the end of the week for new battery to show up...! so i took a chance...with plenty of hills around the trail I was going it would have been Okay for a compression start. The ride begin, got to the trails ( Rutherford South / Pemberton,Bc) the first part of the trail is quite mellow with some long strech and slight turn, so I get to push the bike to 5th gear, it was great the shifting was right and consistant! brake are okay but i will get them done by the end of summer! I knew the rear bearing was quite worn...and it feels pretty wobbly going up hills 2nd gear or 3rd trying to avoid rocks and bump but it will be fix by the end of this week....Thank god..!! Other than that the bike rides fine...for a 95...I am pretty happy and after a 18km first trip I did had a smile on my face and this is what I was looking for. Pure hapiness riding a motorcycle through a wonderful old service road. I almost forgot...I had a technical encounter with a massive tree sleeping across the road...as I was coming down the steepest hill of the trip...well I kinda had to got for it...not having much experience passing log but tones of common sens in me....well I did pull it out...it was great and I did cheer myself and bump the horn after that. hahah especially knowing I had to come back up this way....hahahanyway I wont write a novel, 1 st ride. Good times. No bails. Big Logs. Good challenge. I will post picture tomorow as I have no clue how we dot this yet....! |

Good deal. I've got a 94 that does alot of things well and is quite reliable. Tight trails, cruise at 60mph, run back roads and dirt roads like a champion.

Dr350 1995se. Pemberton BC
Yahoooo, second ride on my 1995 DR 350se.
I am blown away this bike his way over any expectation i had...!! Before buying, i did my research and figure out it was a reliable bike and the perfect beginner style motorcycle. But other then that i knew nothing about those machine! Let me tell you that this bike is not only reliable but it is by far the easiest to ride, after only 20hours top experience on dirtbikes, I found myself extremly confortable riding it, shifting, turning, accelerating....every *things. Second ride starts. Found myself heading to a concrete plan later in the day to pick up clamps for work the next day. As im driving with my bike in the back of the truck ( quick tune up- check up earlier in the day) I remember on the way there a Service Road I took last summer with my truck to go pickup some firewood. So on my way back I go park my truck at the entrance. unload the bike, get it started and then the ride begins. Green River Service Road. Pemberton Bc Awesome Riding let me tell you, lots of turn so i get to practice a lots of gearing control. wow amazing it almost feel like I have a rekluse on that bike...seriously this is way to easy to ride...! I end up going for 22km in with about 8km of switcback at one point i found myself very high in the mountains, ( PIcture are comings still trying to figure out, someone help me ). So i am all excited awesome ride, its getting dark. I start to head down, mostly second and third gear compression action on the way down. barely any braking needed. the road is neat and clean as its been use 1 month ago by logging truck. So i get down I see a white jeep going for some offroading and thats it, pretty quiet road I guess. Now the story begins....I get to my truck cheer myself up, im all stoked, wicked ride, I am so happy the bike is easy to ride as im getting my learners in 2 weeks and I want to be as comfortable as i can on the bike before i head to the road. So...start loading the bike, get my gear off, take my time about 20 min. get in the truck, and....At the same moment i turn the ignition something on my right catch my sight.....50 feet from me...a massive COUGAR right there starring at me, i keep looking cause i cant believe it, a friggin cougar, I am a avid hunter-hiker-fisherman and after living in bc for 6 years I have never seen some of those wild cat to that distance....!! SO has im looking at him I can feel the Adrenaline kikcing in, even tho i just got and my truck, but I knew something in me was like ( that cat was stalking you the ol time you were loading your bike buddy...) so I engage in drive and start drifting and honking and start chasing him down the road. He started to run and Im doing about 60km/h and that cougar is still ahead of me. Bridge is coming crossing the Green river and the damn cat decide to run right on it so I get to cleary see is running action, it was amazing I could not believe my eyes...so fast so muscular so FAST. and then bridge comes to the end and BAM turn right and disappear in the bush. end of story. I get to go home with the adrenaline of riding the bike and cougar encounter, it was great . I had a good night of sleep let me tell you hahaha. Anyway.. Thank you for reading dont be shy and reply anything you want anddont worry picture are coming soon.( no cougar tho) Just riding pics |
