After looking at this thread (and the windscreen disgust thread) I took a punt and ended up buying an expensive (to ship to Australia) Aeroflow standard height screen. I am 5'10" / 178cm, average build sitting on a standard seat with sheepskin cover. I suffered terribly due to (my) head shake due to turbulent air coming over the top of the standard screen, made the bike very unenjoyable, uncomfortable and tiring to ride.

The Aeroflow screen has made a huge difference, a different bike to ride. I was worried as the top of the screen is in my dirt road 'line of vision' but it has forced me to look a little further up the road (as you are supposed to) and I can look through for near obstacles. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference this screen has made for me, YMMV.

Note double posted in the 'turbulence and head shake' thread but I thought my post here warranted a follow-up. http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...=913239&page=2

My experience with turbulence is similar syzygy9. This summer I road about 4500 miles mostly dirt around the western USA and never took off the Aero Flow screen. Looking through and around the screen was not a problem. Even survived several "Lay downs" with out damage. One problem, lost the left Areo wind deflector some where on the trail. Those are connected to the bike with a velcro type fastener. Replaceable but $$.

Me again

at 6 8 " above sea level the Aeroflow works wonders 2 BMW, yes I know blasphemy and all that, and 1 990 and they all work the same magic.
Buy a taller one than you think you'll need, you can always cut it down.
BUT IMHO the Aerogards have a hung jury, not really money well spent.
I do hope that Aeroflow will make a screen for the 1190 'cause the OEM is baad at least for those of us who are not vertically challenged
