I am not big on flames but that looks pretty good. There is a long list and little $ left so that will be towards the bottom of the list!

If you are a semi experienced rider and have some miles under your belt on other mounts (In my case honda, yamaha, ural, kawasaki, vespa. BMW) then ride a HD touring model, the grin will not stop. I ended up buying a Road King after a short test ride. Had my 1000 mile service two weeks after I got it. Fri I will be leaving the cradle of the confederacy for a trip to the twin shitties and back. Oh ya I am 54 so I ain't afraid to call it geezer glide.

Yea she was, rode her own too and I knew she was a keeper. A real shame she didn't feel the same after 7.5 years of marriage. I did all I could to try to keep her but she wanted out, think with her new coporate executive career she simply "outgrew" me.
Now I'm having a hell of time meeting som3one that posses anywhere near the same qualities and I've just about given up fiding someone who rides or is even willing to climb on the back on my bike(s). As a divorce consoluation prize I traded the 06 SG for a '12 Road Glide Custom and the additions of EFI, Brembro brakes, 6 gallon tank, cruise control, six speed tranny, 103" motor, and improved frame design put this bike way above the '06 it replaced.

Congrats!!! Beautiful bike and verrrrry nice color choice.
How do you like the bike to ride? Does it scrape early in turns? Is lean angle decent? Do you find the weight of the fairing on the fork to make turn in heavy? I'm seriously thinking of going back to a cruiser. In an ideal world, the SG would be in the top 2 or 3 choices. My only experience on cruisers have been a Yamaha Roadstar that I owned and a HD Wide Glyde and Fat Boy that I rented. |

Sorry to hear about that man. As a family guy myself I know how hard that could be but life goes on. On the bright side, you got a new bike and........ your crotch don't smell when you are done riding her!

The bike is awsome to ride! The handling of the bike is impressive for the size and weight. HD did a great job with the geometry of the frame and suspension. It is very responsive to minor input from the rider and it turns on a dime. As far as lean angle, you have to remember what you are riding but it simply works. I havent pushed it too hard as the tires are still fairly new. The weight of fairing or forks does not seem to affect the performance when turning, if anything it will help plant that front tire on the ground giving you more traction in the process. It is a heavy bike so if you are short, I recommend a lowering kit so when you can control it when the feet are down. As soon as you take off and put your feet up, the bike feels as nimble as a moped! I race motocross and Hare Scambles and I thought this thing was going to be a pig but I was pleasently surprised with its performance on the road. I couldn't be any happier.

I've always loved them both but haven't been able to decide which is my favorite. I currently ride an 06 softail ( that's going to my pops ) and will be on a 00 roadking soon..... Ps - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the original poster! Your new ride is stunning. Use it in the best of health. |

My RG is the Custom which also came with a tiny shield and I replaced it with an aftermarket. It is much better now but still more buffetting than the batwing faring on the SG. I'm only 5'7" so don't need the added room but the RG faring is so much farther ahead of you that it has a totally different feel, not so confining as the batwing. I swapped the bars and seat on both bikes to fit me better and they are set up the same. Really hard to compare the two considering just the fairing as the changes from '06 to '12 were substantial. People claim the batwing feels heavier but I don't notice any real diference. Either one, and the RK without a faring are great bikes. I think a lot of people often ride one style of HD (sporty, softail or dyna) and assume they are all the same but the touring line is so much different than the others.

My used RK came without the windshield and I like have a naked bike again. No more buffeting. No more trying to get my helmet "in the right place". All that said, I think the RG is seriously the best looking of the faired Harleys. Just don't like the look of the batwing.

Hey AdvRider, congrats on the new ride! I beat you to it at age 35. J And I’m a “sport-biker” by nature (and at heart). The wife and I have spent many Saturday’s tooling around on the SG and really enjoy it. Its been perfect as a day-trip/two-up machine.
This past weekend, I finally did my first weekend trip with my riding mates…headed south to Virginia and W.VA to do some sport riding. Well, they sport rode and I pretended on the SG. J It does OK, but certainly lacks in ground clearance and motor to keep up. The brakes find their limits much sooner too…you really need to watch corner entry speed…learn to break much sooner since you can’t approach hot and brake hard at the last minute. It just ain’t no sportbike! J What a mile-cruncher on the highway…and even twisting two-lanes… such a great bike. All that said, after 1 year, I believe I’m going to trade for an RT. Well, that’s the plan anyway. I’m not one to swap bikes often, it just comes down to “necessity.” My riding mates are getting into more touring and since I refuse to ride the Tuono for 500+ mile jaunts, I want something to keep up in the corners AND still good for two-up lazy Saturday’s with my wife. Wish I could keep the SG as its classic good looks, great sound, great touring make it a simply wonderful machine….Good luck with yours and I bet that backrest will be GREAT!! I really should have bought one…not going to now that I plan to trade at some point this year hopefully.
