Do it, or better still, just throw the Ural away.

Strike a blow against convention, wedge two Ural engines in the BMW. You may need a spare........

You wouldn't be the first. I had a '98 Ural with an '83 BMW R100RT engine, trans, final drive, disc brakes, wheels and lower frame in it. It was an awesome rig that would cruize at 85 mph all day.

Are you also going to put the Ural bits and pieces removed into the BMW?
That I'd love to see! If it runs just might be a first.

At that point why wouldn't you have just put the sidecar and gas tank from the ural on the bmw and called it a day?

Yeah, don't forget to install the BMW brakes to go along with the new top speed.

I know that guy! He probably stole the BMW and had to hide it inside the Ural.
Just kidding, Dennis is one hell of a guy and has some unique stuff, including his ATGATT.
Hi Dennis, Say hello to Becky and Lucy for me. Wish I could be there on the ocean BSing with you today,
Tom

Sooo, which motor?

So, which BMW motor is a "best fit" for a Ural? I have a '98 and wouldn't mind doing something like this also.

Here's a different idea.

Get yourself a French BFG motorcycle with its 1 299 cm3 four cylinder engine.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND DIMENSIONS
Frame type: Tube, engine is part of frame
Front suspension: Telescopic fork
Rear suspension: Swing arm, 2 shock absorbers
Wheelbase: 1 610 mm
Seat height: 785 mm
Brakes front: 2 x 300 mm discs
Brake rear: 1 x 260 mm disc
Performance
Max speed: 197 km/h (123 mph)
Acceleration: 0 - 1000 m : 25 sec
Fuel consumption: 5 litres/100 km

Engine
Type: Citroën GSA type, 1 299cm3 capacity, 4 horizontally opposed air cooled cylinders
Power output: 70 bhp (51 kW) at 5 500 rpm
Maximum torque: 100 Nm (75 lbs.ft) at 3 250 rpm
Ignition: Electronic
Alternator: 480 W
Battery: 18 Ah, 12 V
Dry weight: 290 kg
Max weight: 490 kg
Fuel tank capacity: 22 litres
Engine oil capacity: 4 litres
Gearbox oil capacity: 4 litres

Then attach whatever sidecar you like to that!

As a solo- standing Kilometer in 25 sec. Roughly 1.6 kilometers in 1 mile. So much more roughly that's near Three Quarters of a Mile.
