Because it was a project started by someone else that I finished. It was originally a '98 Ural Deco so it never had leading link front end therefore it was a no brainer to swap in the BMW Forks with disc brakes. They fit right into the Ural triple trees thereby retaining the proper trail for sidecar use.

Thanks for the comments Tom. The BMW parts did cause DMV to do a special inspection to comfirm they didn't come from a stolen bike.

There is a guy over at Steeds who has done this for a few people. He is from the NC mountains and had his rig at CRAP this year. I am blanking on his name though.

im parting out a r100gs with a good 32k mile powerplant, rebuilt 40mm valve heads fresh topend reseal, 40mm bings, plug and play. the trans is spoken for, but my friend nik is parting out an 83 r80rt with a bad engine great trans. check over on the airheads flea market.

An R80 final drive works great for a sidecar rig as it has a lower gear ratio which helps.
