Failed Balancer Shaft Seal, Symptoms?

KTM 950 Adventure 2005.5

I’ve read about some of you replacing the balancer shaft seal. What are the symptoms of a failed seal?
I assume the part you are replacing is what the parts manual calls the, “shaft seal ring” part #0760 122050?

Thanks

Lots of blow-by, lots of oil dripping down the front carb, lots of oil consumption. Changing this seal solves all of those problems.

Aha. I think I am experiencing this. Need to take a look at this more closely.

What the Chuck!

Countershaft Seal Replacement

Are there any pictures of this job floating around, and/or sage advice? What has worked best to pull the old seal, for example? Don't see anything in the HOW..

Thanks! Good pics, I just stumbled across your thread today, by luck. It looks like you can pop the old seal out by careful work with a screwdriver or some snap-ring pliers?

Also going to check the stator bolts while I'm in there, though still hunting around for the torque spec. Anybody know?
