Beautiful job!

But.... Did anyone notice how far out of line the rear fender and wheel are? My ST is the same way and I initially freaked when I noticed it until several measurements proved it was my fender and not my bike that is warped. So I figue the same thing on this Dakar. Except the seat and tank as seen from the back also seem out of alignment.

btw OLH, I think the kicker is a camera angle deal . I'm wondering if the subframe is tweaked?

well it's hard to get your money's worth when paying guys $80+ and hour these days!! They're in a hurry to get done. It's a shame IF I pay for work I usually have to go over it and fix shit not put back in the right spot. Luckily I don't pay for mechanical work very often usually when I do I'm not impressed.

Obviously a lot of work and money were put into the bike. BUT things look crooked from the rear and that isnt cool! Taking time for those kind of details is what I would expect.

Looks like the frame or swingarm are bent. The rear wheel leans to the right.

Oh yeah. DAMN. That's pretty wonky. Also, that siebenrock high exhaust hangs out a little far and doesn't really fit right to my eye. Their mid height pipe looks a lot better on the R100GS you guys built.

when I first looked at the pics, I thought it was just the fender out of wack, which some are, no big deal, but after looking harder, the fender seems perfectly straight with the rest of the bike, that rear wheel is WAY out of line. I'd say the swingarm is bent, but you'd think they would notice that?
maybe they are experimenting with rear wheel steering!
rest of the bike looks nice, but really, a dealer with damn near unlimited resources throwing new parts at a bike just doesn't thrill me.
a guy that spends years searching, cleaning, fabricating,etc, now that impresses me.
I like max's. I usually order my parts from there, nice folks to deal with. I'm just not gonna let them check my wheel alignment!

You guys all need to read the post and not just look at the pics! The rear fender is a little out of whack, No big deal really. Did any one notice the fuel lines aren't even hooked up? Hence the reason i said its unfinished, but had a nice day to het pics up.

And ive spent a good hour or so on the bike with the small tank, wheels are certainly "aligned" correctly.

And i do agree that the Siebenrock R100GS exhaust looks better too. On the R80 it does stick out a little far..but oh well

What you are feeling now may be comparable to how it feels walking into a maxbmw dealership; we ain't there, we're here. You're rung on the ladder may be other than what you are accustomed to.

IMO, if you're posting pics of a project your shop will be asking top dollar for be prepared for more than fawning praise.

Yep saw all that and the right side decal missing from the small tank.
There's a thread in airheads for a production run of small tank decals in both colours.

This is probably not the place to post a picture of an unfinished restoration with pictures showing things out of alignment. The alligators will eat you alive

Yeah you can actually get all the decals from Siebenrock too! BMW still has some but they are very limited and dont hace all of them, go figure

So what's up with the kick starter either not returning (not likely) or screwed up internals which is more likely.


but G/S tend to have misaligned rear fenders. Guess BMW wasn't too concerned about it.
