i.ve had both ... and i always use plastic bags as liners. not your typical "trash bag " stock, but heavyer plastic that can take the abuse of being cramed into a pantier while a down pour is spooling up and i'm pressed for time. a few years ago i stumbled on to "fishing bags"... plastic as you'd expect, but thick and fairly cheap....under 1$each!! i'm still using the org , after about 5 cross contry trips. over 8plus years.

Compression sacks from REI or Blueridge Mtn sports...cost $5 to $7, light, strong so you don't spill your stuff and you get a lot more in them because of the compression straps.
