BMW R80/7 SB exhaust fit 1981?
Will a Pre 1980 exhaust with a single balance pipe fit a 1981 R80? I'm changing the exhaust system, so I might take the opportunity to lose the rear balance pipe and centre stand, and mount my odyssey battery in it's place, under the gearbox.
Might go for a shorter silencer/muffler too: can anyone recommend a megaphone / shorty / dunstall or similar that breathes well and doesn't look too aftermeerkat? Cheers!

Sure, you can do that....
But just make sure that you can live with the reduced funconality and convenience of not having a center stand. For me, the center standin indespensable but to each his own!

Hey Kunst, what kind of front brakes do you have there? Looks like the dual Brembos (or a singe left)... with a spoked wheel? I thought the '81-on came with the mag wheels, no? Or this one of these mods with a two-rip front hub?

Stephen,
For some reason or other the UK police bikes were specced with spoked wheels and as most of the police bikes were R80s then that figures. Mind you the tank is not police.

I wondered about the tank. The engine & frame numbers match but the old mot's say the bike was black and white so I thought respray, but you reckon someone changed it? Someone certainly removed all the police fairings etc.
