2013 XT250 w/ FI

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...74/0/home.aspx
they went FI and only $100 more.
air-cooled and FI.
great easy 250 DS to learn on and continue down the road with!

wondering how many others we'll see across the mfg lines that are FI this next year?

I am not so sure about that. The XT250 is a high fender version of the Tricker which was an awesome bike. The XT with a tail rack is rtw ready right out of the box.

After this bike was announced I wondered how long it would take for Yamaha to bring the XT250 FI model to the US (and potentially Oz) that has been available in some markets for a while ...

At the moment the Australian Yamaha site still lists the carbed version of the XT - no guarantees they do the same here I suspect ...

Damn, should have waited a year.... I do love my 2012 XT though. I don't have any issues with the carb either but that Honda looks awesome.

What's even more awesome? The Honda 250 is $500 cheaper than the Honda 230! Uggh, I'm seriously irritated right now.

Looking at the specs of the Honda 250, there are some things about it I don't like and this is where the XT is perfect for me.

Seat Height 34.7 inches

Curb Weight 320 pounds

Too tall and too heavy.

KLX250S next?

The XT looks pretty-much same other than fueling. FI, 2/10 gallons of gas, and 3 extra MPG is nice!

Maybe Kawasaki will announce FI for US/Canada next, since many overseas are already FI. I sure hope so, more choices are good!

Now it only needs 2 more things...

I unloaded my 08 after it's finish started to go south after only 1 yr of winter commuting.
The other 2 problems were a lack of cornering clearance (very easy to scrape the pegs) and finding proper jets for their damn Tekei Carb was a P.I.A. when it came to trying to find a proper pilot jet.

F.W.I.W. I'm glad they fixed one of the problems with the addition of the F.I. (although once sorted, the tekei did allow easy starts in the sub-temps we have in Pa.)

I have to say, it thrills me to no end to see air cooled bikes getting F.I.

B.T.W. I currently love my 2011 TU250X...it's also seen a full winter of salty road commuting and still looks new. C'mon Yamaha...get your shit together with your finish and I might be persuaded to buy a WR250R next.
Just can't beat F.I. for easy winter start-ups.

That is awesome to see, i like it.

i have a 2009 XT250, and have been really happy with mine, with a main jet upgrade, air/fuel screw to 3 turns out, jet needle shimmed, and a aftermarket exhaust, it always starts up instantly and can cruise at 65-75mph easily, great bike, with this new FI system, it will only get better.

The 2013 xt250 looks like it is filling a niche.
Under 300lbs wet (291 per Yamaha).
AIR COOLED (yeah!)
FI - I love my FI Suzuki TU250.
Screw and lock-nut valve adjustment (This is what it has, right?)
And a seat height that fits real people.
I'll bet that most of these will be ridden mostly on roads. But sometimes I run out of pavement, and really don't want to try the TU through a water crossing. A dual purpose bike is supposed to get all dirty, right?

The insurance is going to be cheap. You can do the valves yourself without a box full of shims and messing with camshafts and chains. This is going to be easy on the pocketbook.

Oh yeah - the headlight is ROUND. (wish the speedometer was too.) And, a six speed would be really neat.
The question is, do I want one enough to go out and get one.
