I don't know if Yamaha do this restrictions for emissions or security reasons... the power could be modest but the torque is big. With the switch on the torque is huge and could gives you some problems in wet road or painted zebra crossing.

You're right, also with the excellent TC the ST has you can ride it safe. But I like the T mode in slippery off road tracks.

Thanks a lot for doing that jaumev,

Since the power dip is in the same rev range as the DL1000 "Wheeze zone" I would guess that emissions have something to do with it. Maybe it doesn't have to be as aggressive, and I still don't know whether it is feeding in the throttle gently to eliminate the need for enrichment in that area to get past the drive by tests. (Could be noise OR gas reduction)

Many bikes these days seem to have a funny spot around 4K.

I did my clutch mod (with switch, relay and LED) about 3 weeks ago and LOVE it - can't wait for situations where I need to go down to 2nd and 3rd gear! I'm enjoying my bike again and have decided against getting the Triumph Explorer...

I spoke to one of the Yamaha Technical guys here in SA and he tested the mod on his S10 as well and was astounded by the positive change to the bikes character - he has emailed Japan to enquire about the mod.... not holding my breath...

My new project
I’ve found a used mudguard in ebay and decided try to change the bike rear. I don’t like much the big rear mudguard, very road bike look.
So I cut it and now I'm looking how to fix the plate and turn signals but more or less this is going to be from this:

Unfortunatelly the Spanish economy needs much more than this ... needs a miracle!!
So... instead of drunk to forget the problems I prefer concentrate in this fantastic bike.

I don't know about a complete kit but my dealer wants to sell some products based in my bike, he's starting with the stickers:

I really like the modded rear on that bike :)

Maybe your dealer also wants to make some money by selling a painted windscreen thats styled like the one on the worldcrosser concept bike ;)
