Yep the 15-minute replacement sticker takes 2.5 hr from arrival at dealer to completion for CARB compliance.

& heres the kicker you have to have the sticker verified for VIN# then KTM overnites the sticker to the dealer for replacement, so two trips to the dealer just so the commiefornia bikes can be registered on the left coast.
Odd, all I did was hand my letter to the dealer and they gave me a sticker and off I went. Sounds like I got lucky for once.

lucky dog

Yes you are lucky, I was told that the stickers were VIN # specific & KTM had to verify your bike Vin to the new sticker

Who knows, any way my 990, which is for sale in the ADV Flea Market ,is now legal to go to Calif if it wants too

No kidding. That's one agency that could be flushed down the crapper.

Oh man. This recall is so full of FAIL.

For the 990, dealer says they will need to take the tanks off. Same with the 530 but as you know, that's a whole lot easier than the 990. Dealer also didn't receive but two stickers for the 530...and they've used them.

Neither sticker has anything that most owners care about on it. Which leads me to believe it would have been easier to send KTM dealers a service bulletin to correct whatever typo someone made.

I did my 530

I went to get an appointment for my 530 and the guy said just bring it in. He showed me an envelope with a bunch of tags. I rode my bike over, they found a place where it could be seen and they just stuck one on. I don't think they pulled an old one off. 15 minuets total. I wouldn't be surprised to find that each state has it's own requirement as to how and where they have to put the new sticker on.
I miss my 990 thats why I still follow the OC.

Scan a copy, anyone?

Hi,
I've moved since I bought my '09 990 so not sure if I'll get the notification. Can someone scan and post a copy, or quote the range of VIN numbers?

Thanks
Ken

No VIN on the new sticker that was mailed to me by the dealer. Has the bike model listed though.

And no "proof of correction" certificate was included. It was just a sticker that could be slapped on any 2009 SE.

I have a feeling his will not be fun come next April when I go to renew registration.

Just renewed my 09 450 no problem. Will get the new sticker just in case. Nice to know you can get clean air from a sticker, must be the glue

I'm going with if you renew this year, it's going to be fine since you get time to have the recall done. If there's going to be an issue, it's gonna be next year. Or the year after-or any time you decide to "purge" and get rid of the paperwork

Went to register my 09 530 today, DMV will not give me a new sticker without verification letter from Dealer. Dealer closed today of course, will call the dealer hours away tomorrow to see what happens.

I got the renewal a few months ago and it didn't mention the recall or ask for documentation but the tags never showed up in the mail. Found out today the tags were on hold pending submission of recall completion. Off to the DMV tomorrow with my dealer provided documentation.

I just bought my 530 the other day off of a friend and when I went to the (CA) dmv today to do the transfer, she told me I couldn't get the new registration sticker until the "emissions recall" was completed. I went into full on panic mode and high tailed it over to Motoworld and asked the dude in service what the deal was. He laughed and told me it was just a sticker under the tank and they don't inspect anything. So I went home, grabbed the bike, took it down to them and in 25 minutes I was back at the DMV with the verification form. Luckily my farm boy charm worked on the dmv reception/screener lady and she put me right at the front of the que and I had my new sticker and was on my way in about 5 minutes.
