]"My name is Christian I live in Buenos Aires and I am preparing my longest ride Buenos Aires-Ushuaia SOLO.
I will start the ride in October early days for about 20 to 25 days max"

I am planning to ride down from California starting in mid-July. This will be a sort of self-discovery mission, so I'll be moving slow. I am not sure when I will be travelling through Buenos Aires, but it will probably be around that time. If I am ahead of you, it would still be cool to meet up.

I've read a lot about riding through Central America, and it seems pretty safe. Do you have any insight (or know where I can find it) on the safety of riding through South America? Specifically Columbia and the northern countries?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

if you are in buenos aires by October 2012 let me know so we can meet and ride along.

I can only talk abt Argentina, it is a safe place but shit can happen. the best tip i can give you is to be always alert at any place you are.

I think there are many threads abt safety in central america and orther countries, you shoud search the forum.

cheers
christian

Jonathan, I've never been to Colombia and those countries, but if you search here and horizons unlimited you'll have plenty of information.

Colombia's a vastly different country than it was even just a few years back. You won't have any problems. There are neighborhoods in Chicago that are far worse than anything Colombia can dish out. I know--I live here.
