Any chance of you posting the route you took. It looks pretty interesting and I'd love to give it a go.

Peter13, The only plan I had was a trip from, Newcastle - Grafton ( Old Grafton Rd ) - Newcastle via as much dirt as possible. ( not mud )
I had a route hi-lighted on a map along with backup routes incase of holds ups, mishaps or bad weather, which I got. Saturday put me behind with slow go'n on muddy tracks and some really dense fog. So I did alter my trip slightly both Sat & Sun to make up time, but Mon saw more blacktop due to really heavy rain & riding alone. There's so much more you could add to this trip depending on what you like. I did it in 3 days, but left no time to explore or sight see, 4 days would have been better. This is what I did. R - right turn, L - left, C - continue, V - veer, S - start Laguna - Sandy Hollow ( fuel at Laguna, after 9am, Kulnura ) S - Yengo Trail C - Howels Trail to Putty Rd L - Putty Rd R - Commission Rd C - Apple Tree Flat Rd L - Bureen Rd R- Martin Dale rd L - Yarrawa Deviation Rd L - Yarrawa rd R - Bylong Valley Way L - Golden Hwy to Sandy Hollow 1km ( fuel avail ), pass Wybong rd on Right Sandy Hollow - Scone L - Wybong Rd L - Yarraman rd L - Ridgelands Rd R - Bunnan Rd R - New England Hwy Scone ( fuel avail ) L - Gundy Rd Scone - Gloucester ( fuel avail Gundy, Moonan Flat pub ) C - Scone - Nundle rd R - Moonan Brook Rd R - Barrington Tops Fore rd C - Scone Rd L - Mud Hut rd ( at Cobark ) VR - C - Mud Hut rd R - Upper Bowman Rd R - Walcha Rd, toward Gloucester ( fuel avail Barrington 91 octane, Gloucester prem fuel) ( pass Bowman farm rd on left heading towad Gloucester approx 3km ) Gloucester - Walcha L or R - Bowman farm rd R - Walcha Rd, toward Nowendoc R - The Treetops Rd ( Nowendoc ) VL - (pass police station) C - Nowendoc Rd, toward Oxley Hwy L - Walcha ( fuel avail ) Walcha - Uralla C - toward Uralla R - Jamieson St C - Emu Creek Rd VL - Winter Bourne Rd VL - Blue Mountain Rd R - Eastlakes / Gostwych - Hillview Rd R - Uralla - Enmore rd L - Gostwych War Service rd ( keep eye out for small sign post ) passes thru private property, 2 unlocked gates, to Elliotts rd R - Elliotts rd, toward Dangarsleigh then on to Armidale ( fuel avail ) Armidale - Glen Innes C - Rock Vale rd L - Herbert Park rd C - Green Hills rd L - Guyra - Ebor rd R - Wards Mistake rd L - Backwater rd C - Mount Mitchell rd R - Glen Leigh rd, to Glen Innes ( find New England Hwy ) fuel avail Glen Innes - Grafton ( Get fuel, none till Grafton ) From New England Hwy R- Gwydir Hwy ( Either take Shannon Vale rd, or slab the Gwydir hwy ) R - Old Grafton Rd, ( convict trail ) toward Dalmorton then on to Grafton ( fuel avail ) Grafton - Newcastle ( suburbs, areas passed ) Glenreagh Nana Glen Sth Coffs Harbour Macksville Smithtown Gladstone Crescent Head ( back rd to Pt Plomer ) Unserviced Rd to Port Macquarie ( cross on ferry ) Head to, Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Laurieton, Crowdy Bay Nat Park. Plenty of options of dirt from here back south, check maps for routes You can use google maps to follow this route & to find more options home. Hope this helps, enjoy PS few more pic in here http://s909.photobucket.com/albums/a...20loop%20Ride/ burgo |
