Changing my throttle assembly, have a question

I am cleaning up the bar area and want a smaller slimmer throttle, and see a Tommaselli SuperPratic B that looks pretty nice and was wondering if any of you think it will be OK? I was told yes, and i was told no... now i need a tie breaker. I can't seem to find info on it other that its nice and a guy with it on a XS650 loves it...

I fitted a twin pull one to my r90 racebike....but also fitted a Brembo master cylinder. Switchgear may be an issue.
You will also need to make up new throttle cables.
At the risk of starting a throttle war I prefer the straight pull to the BMW geared ones....
I can take a pic and load it up if you like.

well

It is a strait pull I believe... The only thing that someone has mentioned that has made me nervous is it might not have enough pull for the 32mm Bing carbs? That and I currently have a dual cable stock throttle and this is a single cable, which i am guessing there is a 1 to 2 cable option somewhere.

I forgot to mention i have a 72' R75/5.

Its quite different to mine, but here is a rather poor photo of it....
and its running Dells....unsure how it would work on cranked operated Bings.

Ooo.

Is that A Mr. ToasterTan brace? Looks nice. What bars are you using as i am trying to decide if I should get adjustable or rigid clip-ons? That looks like a pretty nice bike.. your racer i'm guessing w/o a light.

Do different throttles have different lengths of pull?

Toaster Tan...., no my friend is an engineer, makes me stuff for his amusement.Bars are made locally by a guy for classic race bikes, Adjustable ones like Gilles are nice but $$ I was looking at a set for rubber bandy Duke I sold last year but got some fixed cheaper one,
I have another Tommaselli on another bike and they are much the same, others I'm guessing are different.
Its a race bike, built up from various sad bits I found.....there is a build thread here http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=790873 if you want some inspiration and tips on how not to do things.....

Voltaire got at the issue, but let me be blunt.

The BMW throttle cables have little itty bitty square ends on the throttle side that go into the little holder on the end of the chain of the gear drive. The Tomaselli throttle have round holes for a barrel shaped throttle cable end. As Voltaire said you could make your own cables.

Advice from those with Dell Orto's doesn't apply to Bings. It is no problem to get cables that will work between the Tomaselli and the Dells. Guzzi and Ducati used that combination so there are lots of options.

They Daytona 2C is a similar dual pull throttle and a "classic" for vintage twins. http://www.bevelheaven.com/stuff-for...e-2c-black.htm Motion pro will make you a set of customer cables.

Yes , the one on my bike is the one from Bevel Heaven as is the 13 mm MC.
I bought some cables locally and soldered on the nipples.
Bit of trial an error to get the pull correct. All part of the fun really.

Just called Motion Pro... super helpful! If I do it it'll cost 40, and take a week. I think thats pretty reasonable for a custom 2 to 1 cable assembly.

I do like that Daytona one but I already have the other in hand... This is what happens when your passion for neat parts overshadows you mechanical aptitude for figuring out it it will work or not. And yes my eyes are bigger than my stomach as well.

I put standard thomaselli throttle on mine. The shop had some leftover adjustable 2 piece throttle cables that were perfect measurement off the shelf saved me having to get custom cables made up -1 to each bing- no problems.

Also if there is any problems down the line they're a crapload cheaper to replace than BMW stuff.
