DR650 exhaust
Hey, sorry to duplicate but trawling through 66,000 posts was taking forever and getting nowhere.
Does anyone have a review on the fmf powercore 4 exhaust and power bomb header combo. I'm tossing up between that and a staintune system and trying to justify the extra $600 on the latter Mav Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Well 2/2 say no staintune which I'm kinda happy about!! Anyone used the power bomb/powercore 4 setup to offer an opinion? For under $500 posted it seems like good value

+1 on what gjcarving said.
You are looking at dropping a lot of money into something for the sake of mostly sound, and I'm personally convinced the average rider never truly realizes an advantage for the narrow amount of performance gain with these high dollar mods. So why not grind the header weld, pick up a GSXR can on ebay for $100 or less, and then put your money in the carb? You'll get a noticeable performance gain, and have money left over.

I have the Q4/ Powerbomb system on my DR and it is amazing. Great deep rumble without being too annoying for riders behind me. FMF's quality is fantastic and i can't imagine the need to pay any more money for another brand. My DR was absolutely choked out before I installed the system and now it rips like a real dirt bike.

Can you say a bit more about the Hyabusa can as opposed to the GSXR? Maybe it's a semantics issue, but then maybe I've missed something of import. Are you saying there are two of the sport bike mufflers that will work with the DR?

Any aftermarket muffler is going to have decelleration popping. There is a fuel circuit in the carb that prevents decell popping and the BST doesn't have it. The only reason you don't hear it with the stock pipe is that it's muffled so well from Zuki.

I did the gsxr mod on my 90 DR650 and I love it. Picked up the can on ebay for 40-50. I followed this example...

Most aftermarket pipes like the FMF will require repacking. Pain.
GSXR muffler gets you the gains and you never have to repack. Not too loud either. You don't have to get the X40F0X GSXR titanium muffler either, you can get the 35X0 for less money, it's 1.5 pounds different big deal. The 40's are getting pretty hard to find.

Look at the link for the one on DR650 exhaust. In particular, at the top of page 2, where inmate B1 posts a link to his exhaust mod write up. It is a wealth of good info. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=636381
